This is your one-stop to discuss upsets. You may discuss upsets that are projected, that are brewing and that has already happened. I won't define what qualifies as an upset and let you be judge of it.
What upsets are you expecting on day 1 to begin with?

Rafa vs. Coric is surely a match to keep an eye on. However, almost everyone (me included) believes Rafa will come through this. Coric has a steady baseline game, but not much of a fire power and so it may not be enough to get the job done. Also, Coric has fitness issues in long matches.

Some say, Kei vs. Benoit match is also tough. But, I think Kei will win it easily.

I am expecting Fog to be upset or at least troubled by Steven Johnson.

Both Ferrer and Stepanek are back in play after long time. Although their opponents are easy ones, these matches that you play after a long break are always bound to be tough ones.

Agreed with you the first three... Paire might possibly keep it close for one set, but Nishikori will do to him what Djokovic did in Cinci.

After getting to his first ATP final, I want to see how Herbert does up against Agut.

I really like Borna's chances against Rafa. Coric's already beaten him, so he will come in confident. And I just don't get the sense that Rafa is bringing his A game to NY.

I don't see upsets this first week but just some tough matches like Roger against Mayer and also someone else. I think the top ten are in good conditions to fight and if the mind works well then everything will work better ;)

Nishi will have two chances/options, or to play well the second and third set or to start to limp again......:cover

Paire is playing really well, I wouldn't say that Nishi losing against him has been an upset

Forgot the tennis was on. Time to watch some. Tough for Kei alright. Truck load of points lost there.
Hopefully Haas finishes off Verdasco in 4.

He was the #4 seed and defending finalist who held 2 MPs. It's definitely an upset

Nishi can be the #4 seed and defending finalist but Praire is playing better than him and I hope he continues playing like that way, maybe he could upset more than one?
Cilic could go out anytime but depending against who I wouldn't see it like an upset

I agree it wouldn't surprise me either to see Cilic lose to anybody not even remotely good but the reality is he won it last year so if he loses this early it will definitely be classed as an upset as he's still the defending champion.

Agreed. I don't think he would have gone much deeper, even if he had won today, but this was an upset. No doubt about it.
