Andy realized that it was quite unfair in Rome finals with he coming to the finals almost untouched and Nole coming there after three tough matches in a row (Belluci, Rafa and Kei) and so has decided to make sure that he will also go to the final (if he manages to do that) equally tired if not more despite the fact that he is playing against unheralded players. Andy for president, a man who believes in social justice :lolz:

J. Sousa (the Portugal one, the seeded one) got ousted by Gulbis. Coric sent Tomic packing, but this was kind of expected despite Tomic being seeded.

Bag man isn't fit enough and he lost it right after set 2 was over.

I haven't watched a single match of Verdasco's glorious RG run, but he seems to be in decent form. I think his fitness is questionable and he might grab a set, but I don't think he can beat Kei here. If he was in Novak's qaurter I would be rooting for him like a madman though.

The first two rounds are over. Twenty two of the 32 seeds (that works out to about 70% success rate) who were projected to reach the 3rd round actually did so. Some of the unseeded ones to make it to the third round are Almagro, Verdasco, Gulbis, Coric, Zevrev, Granollers and Gabashville.

Sock was dismissed by Ramos-Vinolas in a 5 set match today. If I remember right this Ramos guy is the one who took out an unfocussed Federer very early in Shanghai recently.

I don't understand why anyone should be surprised! It's going to happen more and more with the old guys! They can only hang on for so long! :cover :puzzled :nono

Troicki closes it out with just a little drama.

Does Granollers' walkover over Nadal count as an upset?

I don't think so, but the points and money will go to him since Nadal didn't come out to contest this match! It's happening more and more so I have little idea of why it's surprising with Fedal on their last legs! :puzzled :nono :cover

Nole needs to spend some time with his compatriot and learn the correct way to play Gilles. :snicker

I am not sure about the points. I am positive that untill, I am not sure, three or four years ago a player would NOT get the points when he gets a w/o. Maybe it has changed.

Points are given for reaching a certain phase in an event, not for how they reached it. In this case, Granollers will be rewarded 180 points, like each and every player in the R16.

That's a tough one to call. I think he'll definitely give Berd a tussle, but I see Tomas coming through that one.

Cuevas v. Berdych. Is anyone picking Pablo for the upset?

Yes, I do. Cuevas is also playing doubles and has won a couple of matches. He is in good form.
