Of the top 16 seeds, who were supposed to reach R16, eleven of them made it there, including
all top ten players. That is an excellent conversion ratio of 68.75%. Apparently, this is only the third time in the open era that all the top ten players reached R16.

Here are those who did not live up their seedings: Cilic, Medvedv, Coric, Bailashville and Cecchinato.

Here are those who replaced them: Wawrinka, Struff, Paire, Mayer and Londero

Except for Wawrinka who is seeded #24, all the replacements are unseeded players.

p.s. In contrast, in WTA of the top 16 seeds who were supposed to reach R16, only five of them made it there.

I predict two upsets for Monday.

1. Fog will cover the future of Sasha with this loss.
2. Monfils surprises himself and others by beating Thiem.

Fabio couldn't do it, but Karen did.
JMDP stumbled and the Russian made his first QF in a slam.

Six of Eight who were supposed to reach QF, actually did. That is a 75% conversion rate.

Also, all the four non-seeded players still remaining in R16 exited. :bye:

Wow, all the four who were supposed to reach SF actually reached. 100% conversion rate.

On the other hand in the WTA, not a single top 5 player in SF.

The conversion rate kept increasing in ATP as each round progressed.

I looked it up.

The top four reached the semifinals in both 2012 and 2013 AO.

2012: 1. Novak 2. Nadal 3. Fed 4. Murray

2013: 1. Novak 2. Fed 3. Murray 4. Ferrer

Also confirmed that it did not happen after that until now. The big three were taking turns being injured and it prevented it from happening.

Novak is a 1st seed again.

2+2=?

I call for two upsets on the men's side tomorrow. But, I won't tell you which ones are they.

After 100% conversion rate, the only way to top it tomorrow is by having 0% conversion rate.

From the top of my head AO 2012?

You are not the only one to be off. Even the RG website got this wrong (and the wrong info is still in their site).

Of course, the reason why people get this wrong is that they are looking for semifinals in which Big Three are there along with someone else. In 2013 AO SFs, Ralph was MIA and so it goes under the radar.

I am upset. They should have cancelled all the matches today and postponed everything by a day. I am not saying it would change the result. But, at least we could have watched better tennis. It was a terrible match to watch with wind blowing the ball away many times. I agree that the conditions were the same for both players and so it is fair. Not questioning the fairness of it. But, tennis is not to be played in these conditions.

Absolutely right.
