Really? That would be unexpected on this surface. But I admire your boldness.

RBA is more of a hard-courter than clay courter (despite being Spanish). Taylor Fritz is the lone American who likes to slide on clay.

Edmund - Cuevas is surely a candidate today, Edmund being the seeded player.

Two more upsets to the tally. Edmund retired 2 in the third set after lost first two sets.
Schwartzman lost to Mayer when they resumed the match from yesterday.

Simon gone. He was the potential first seeded opponent for Novak.

Upset Alert. Lucas Pouille is down 2 sets to 1. In the fourth he is down a break to Klizan.

Klizan can play great, but it rarely happens. He is lefty, has a huge serve and FH. He beat Thiem last year in Kitzbuhel in front of the austrian crowd. He looks to be pumped up again in front of the french crowd?

Worth to note he beat half-Novak last year on clay and took a set of Rafa in RG 13.

Klizan beat Pouille after the french was serving for the match. Great comeback.

1. After two rounds, of the 32 seeded players who were supposed to reach the third round, 20 of them reached.
That is a 62.5% conversion rate. I would say that is a right balance between seeds having a meaning and
some change happening.

2. All the top 10 players reached 3rd round. The highest seed to fall is #11 Cilic.

3. Here is the complete list of casualties in order of their seeding.

Cilic, Medvedev, Bailashville, Cecchinato, Shortman, Pella, Shapo, D-Minor, Lucas, Verdasco. Edmund, Berrrettini.

Klizan is a bit of an under-the-radar LostGenner. I always pair him with Paire (yes, that was intentional), because both were born in 1989 as part of the "first wave" of LostGen with Nishikori, but also Sousa, Johnson and Young.

Anyhow, by my count Klizan is one of only nine LostGenners--if we consider players born 1989-93 as LostGen--to win an ATP 500 or higher tournament, along with Nishikori, Raonic, Goffin, Dimitrov, Sock, Basilashvili, Schwartzman, and Thiem.
