I never doubted she wouldn't pull it out, but trouble is definitely at her door and just like you, she'll be up longer than expected

Woz pulls a Serena and comes back from 5-1 down and 2 MP's to win the match 7-5 in the decider.

That was classy poise. Now Tsonga is trying to pull the age-over-brashness card on Shapo.

That was rather sad. Georges had a very good run for the last 6 months or so.
This was always Julia's fate. See this message I posted a few weeks ago in the prediction thread.

I think Goerges will be the best german - Kerber just keeps losing. I also think that Ostapenko will have a hard year - winning a major at 17 is difficult to handle.

Kerber already looks better this year than she did all of last year put together. Whatever she was going through, I think she has dealt with it and is ready to play again. Plus it helps that the pressure isn't on her anymore since her ranking fell. Osta had just turned 20 when she won RG.

Georges blows hot and cold. More cold than hot. She can't play this well consistently for the whole year.

I have never heard of Bernarda Pera. Anyone? (Though, hey, Halep has no clothing sponsor, either, @kskate2 )

I do believe Simona's lack of sponsor is by choice. She may be weighing other offers in search of the right one. She should milk this #1 ranking cow as long as she can

For sure, but if she doesn't win a Major soon, or keep the #1, her stock goes down. I'm sure her people know what they're doing, though.

From 2-5 down in the first, Garbiñe forces the TB.

And Shieh did take the first. I pegged this as a tough 2nd round, but I'm still hoping that Mugu pulls it out.

Ya, it may be by choice. But, it is a poor choice. They should have finalized the deal with someone before AO started. It only brings her market value down when seen by so many people that she is without a sponsor.

I think this is probably right. She's #1, she's at a Major, and she has no sponsor. At the very least, she should have been rumored to be in a bidding war. When Djokovic changed sponsors last year, at least his PR people put the speculation out there. Unless she wins the AO, her stock goes down, not up, afterwards. However, if she does win, she'll get a bigger contract and everyone looks like a genius.

Garbiñe out. Bummer.
