I think's it's amazing that Roger has beaten two top 10 players and has a reasonable chance of making the semis in his first tournament back after a 6 month injury layoff--the first of his career. This should silence the "let's see how he can play at 35 after a long layoff" naysayers!

I doubt that Roger looses more than a total of 6 games to M Zverev that would be astonishing ..i am watching the replay of his match with Murray..Andy should be forced to swim back to Scotland..this. German's game is too predictable..IMO

AP, to be honest I would be surprised if Mischa wins a set. Now I suppose a 2013 Stakhovsky situation is possible, but even if Mischa reproduces his high level he displayed against Murray, Roger will find a way in and dismantle him.

Today I expect Goffin to take out Thiem.

That would be no surprise to me, on HC this match-up is quite even.

I just didn't see anything that would trouble any top pro..All due respect, I don't think Isner was dialed into his match and Murray was just tapped out...Zverev serve was okay but isn't nasty lefty and his volley was average...I just don't see how he has lasted this long

I was very surprised that Muzz lost yesterday against the German. Muzz is a smart player and like Nadal he knows to figure out how to play his opponent but yesterday he looked don't have any clue

Without seeing the big upset of Andy in the match with Misha, a big part of that could be because of the s/v style played by the German.
There are so few players who use it these days, that even the best defensive baseliners could be rattled when they face one of them. They are not used to play them anymore.

He won't. Everything that Mischa does plays into the pure strength of Roger's. This match result should be the same as Custer's faith at Little Big Horn where Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse led their tribes to a complete massacre of the US soldiers. I have been wrong in the past but I am quite certain of this one.

isner is just a serving machine. i expected better of him by now but every time i look at scores from his match theres always 2-3 tiebreakers. disappointing tbh. idek what murray was doing

hope your right. if he does win i hope he wins comfortably so he has plenty of energy to take on tsonga or wawrinka in a potential 5 setter

Murray was a 5 times finalist at AO, being the number one ranked player and the favorite after Novak lost, this has got to be a crushing defeat at the hands of Mischa.

Used to happen all the time in past eras! We've been spoiled by the excellence of the "Big 4" and overlooked the weakness of the current crop of "also rans!" A lot of the time it was rare for the #1 seed to win majors since only a handful have been able to win multiple titles in a season! Some could formulate "Big 4's" up and down tennis history, but none will come close to the current and prolific Fedalovicray (46 majors)! With Nole and Andy approaching 30, they'll swap the top spot and in turn drop a match considered an upset! We need to get over this "golden age" and be more realistic to the one I believe had it all; the 90's! The US was leading the way with Sampras, Agassi, Courier, & Chang (27 majors)! It hasn't been the same since; in the States or the World! :clap

Let's just put it this way: at this point Roger has a better chance of reaching the final than Rafa. Consider their likely paths:

Roger: Mischa Zverev should be easy, and his s&v won't hold up against Roger; Stan Wawrinka (or Tsonga) has beaten Roger, and recently, but Roger still holds the edge overall

Rafa: Gael Monfils - probably an easy win for Rafa, but you never know; Milos Raonic is very dangerous and probably a 50-50 matchup for Rafa; Grigor Dimitrov is playing the best tennis of his life (with apologies to Goffin and Bautista Agut)

But we really could be looking at a Fedal final, and if it is then it is probably going to be the last one ever. Roger won't reach the FO final, and Rafa won't reach Wimbledon final. Maybe US Open? But this seems like a perfect storm scenario that won't come again...

And we're still probably going to see Stan vs. Milos. I'm personally hoping for Roger vs. Grigor, but Roger vs. Rafa would be epic, if scary.

it was a very bad day for Sir Andy, hope he's not trying to copy Nole....now I expect Stan to win AO but we could have another surprises before the end

If Roger and Stan meets, I think Roger would be the favorite

The biggest tennis crowd attendance have been the William Sisters, Fed and Rafa...it's not always in that order..but for television ratings , the networks and the tournament considers those 3 draws their cash cows or bread and butter..in the 90's it was Agassi and Sampras....
