and everyone was pencilling in Caro as Serena s 4th round opponent...the media was predicting a Serena loss like they are wishing she loses early and not get to number 22.

As Caroline said after her loss

#Wozniacki not parsing words in press: "It's a pretty crappy start to the season. I let her back into the match. It's my own fault"

Sure right Caroline with all those chances to win the match. Her stats for AO is now perfect:

2011: Semifinal 2012 Quarterfinal 2013 4th round 2014 3rd round 2015 2nd round 2016 1st round

Ir can only be better from here. Well she met a player today who never gave up and a Caroline who lost her mental strenght in 3rd set. Come again Caroline - use your time well before the next tournament in St. Petersbourg. What about joining the mix tournament if it's possible. :nono

I really love Caroline. I just don't understand this fall from the heights of late 2014. What is the issue here?

Almost NOBODY was predicting a Serena loss. There's VERY few commentators who didn't predict Serena to win the whole thing. Stop acting like the world is against Serena and you are the only one supporting here.

The problem, Caroline, is you will never get rid of your father as coach. Your career is done with him as your coach.

Only two of twelve writers and commentators have chosen Serena to win the entire tournament (check ESPN). Most (9) have chosen Vika. That list includes Mary Jo, Chris, Justin G, Mary etc., plus writers like Tignor etc.

its obvious you dont read the tennis news online......all the media people and some commentators from all over the world were just dismissing her even on the AO16 website this person wrote a report on how Camilla is going to easily beat Serena like she is superior..I dont want to mention names because some are reporters that are always interviewing the players...
who cares about your sour attitude...go eat your lemons you seem to enjoy them..:snicker

So much action while I was asleep. I stayed up for Caroline ' s match which was a nail biter till the end. Her opponent Putintseva actually reminds me a lot of Cibby, small with some power and lots of guts.
There seems to be more action on this upset page than the actual day page which isn't a good look. Maybe folks were nervous and rusty. Thanks Kskate for the updates, Australian open is always rough with the time difference :)

ONE OF THE MAIN factors were periods with injuries where she played anyway and that's a fault. If you look through the year she's some tournaments with 1 point. She's now hired a permanent physio trainer/terapeut. Actually she's injury free right now - the taping on her knee is only to prevent. She actually had an ok clay season but got injured after French Open - so all points earned last part of 2014 she's not able to defend. Ok?

Errani down 4-1 in the decider

Indeed she's the first seed out and Sloane is in big trouble against Wang - didn't see that coming.

Yep. Ebony Smooth down a set and 5-3

Really surprised bout Sloane gettin best, I thought she had made a lot of progress. She is turning into a female version of zjames Blake :nono

Actually, its more likely her type of game, the constant retrieving, running down every ball, not cutting points shorter with aggressive play.

The same thing happened with Jankovic and Radwanska, two players with similar type of games. They have two years of really consistent tennis and results, then fall down the ranking, and occasionally have months where they play and win consistently, but never have a full year of solid results.

It goes back to the type of games they play which is very physical, and takes a toll both physically and mentally.

Serena doesn't look as fit as she did last year. That being said Serena could win a slam with one hand tied behind her back. Just saying she looks like she enjoyed the off season.

I tend to agree with this. What I'm more confused by is that momentary, about 6 month span, where suddenly she seemed to return to her winning ways. Was she dictating more and playing more of a power game?

Aren't you being optimistic? If this trend continues, it will be

2017: 3rd round loss in qualifying
2018: 2nd round loss in qualifying
2019: 1st round loss in qualifying
2020: Unable to make it to quals
2021: Retire

Caro just seems bored by tennis...she seems to me to be ready to get married if she meets the right person and start a family. She has lots of endorsements and is probably fulfilling obligations..

And usually to a nobody. Like last year wasn't it Coco? You have to be pretty bad slam winner if you cannot defeat Coco Puffs in your home tournament. :cover

Venus about to go down in straights to Konta. She will drop a boatload of points and her ranking will plunder.
