He was hitting the ball pretty well, yes he was missing some..but the speed was not letting Rafa to get to the ball in time, so i wud say verdasco was playing pretty well and i guess courts are playing faster too

I watched the first three sets live. Once Fernando was down 2 sets to 1, I gave up and went to bed.
I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Verdasco actually won instead of choking it out.

I have not seen the highlights of the last two sets yet. But, I hear Verdasco had about 90 winners to about 30 by Rafa.

I am doing a hold on Rafa and will write him off only after two consecutive RG losses.

p.s. Rafa did not make lot of money last year, by any chance did he throw his match today? :devil

Fernando hit 90 winners, but also had 91 errors.
So it is not that he had a vintage performance overall.
And Rafa choked the match, because he was 2 points away from winning it in the 4 set.

That's a running theme of late! Here and on boards, his fans think he's back for some reason; no matter Qatar and this match last night! :dodgy: :cover

I would not be surprised to see Goffin upset. He was shaky in his first round and he split his first 2 sets with Dzumhur.

He has righted the ship (not yet over though)

Yes. He pulled it off.
Delboner is 1-2 down against his countryman Olivo.

Thiem is 2-3 in his h2h with Goffin and has a chance to tie it up. Goffin was struggling at times against a rather errant Dzuhmur. Meanwhile Thiem was hitting the veteran Almagro off the court. I am looking forward to Thiem stepping it up and winning this one.

I too think Thiem would win this one. Goffin actually ate a whole bagel in 2nd set to get quick energy for the last two sets.

Lately, the better Federer plays, the worst the feelings we have...

I have a bad feeling (based on nothing) about the Dimitrov -Roger match. I seriously hope it is BS.

Nervous energy brother! Dimitrov doesn't have a killer instinct anywhere in his body. :nono. Fed on the other hand could be in a wheel chair at 95 and still getting after it. The old boy may have slowed a step, but he's still got the fire. More than enough to beat the playboy.

There's nothing about the way Dimitrov is playing that should instill any fear in Fed fans. I mean if we're being really honest, only Nole and a super-focused Stan should right?

^ Couch not coach right now anyway, him lying on it sobbing his eyes out :snicker To answer your question though, no. My guess is he stays with uncle phoney for the rest of his career.

I too have such a bad feeling. But, Grigor lost a set even to a nobody yesterday. However, he will bring it to Roger. Roger has 4-0 H2H against Grigor and the only time it went to three sets was this year at Brisbane when Roger had a flu. So, logically we should not be worried.

Also, if Roger wins against Grigor, that will be a (not much meaningful) milestone. It will be his 300th match win in Grandslam matches.

^ I take it Connors owns the record in terms of wins in the four majors?

The courts are playing a good bit faster too this year which favours Roger. Dimitrov's serve lets him down most of the time. Would like to watch this one but again won't be able to watch any tennis till the weekend. Doh :(

lol. i read an article on yahoo today from uncle toni, saying he is open to Rafa getting a new coach. I hope rafa isn't really that stubborn, considering all the other greats have made changes to further their careers.
