Did rafa really lose. I'm at work can't watch anything. I hope this is an rye opener, new set of eyes are needed rafa. I didn't pick him to win, but at least go further than the first round.

Shawn, I went to bed after Verdasco lost serve in the fifth set, thinking Rafa had it done and dusted. Woke up to find it was 2-6 in the fifth! :nono

Every time you play a power player, stuff can happen. Too many examples. I have not watched this match but from the stats, you can easily say Nando went for it first chance he got, mades some, missed some, but did not give Rafa a chance to play his own game. Finally revenge for Nando I guess...

Pretty sure this puts an exclamation point on the fact that Rafa is no longer going to contend in Slams outside of the French. And we'll have to see how he does there this year to determine if that facet of his career is over.

It will happen to Novak one day too, it's inevitable.

Fed might be 34 and ancient, but at least he's evolving as a player in his efforts to remain relevant at the top of the sport. Djoker is always fine tuning his game, always working on what needs improvement. Rafa really has not done that.

As a Rafa fan, I can say some new eyes are needed.
No one is saying he has to turn his back on family, but bringing someone else to 'consult' could only help at this point. Didn't turn out so bad for Nole.
Let's put egos aside.

I fell asleep after Rafa took the second and it assumed it would be over in four. I was pleasantly surprised. I want to check out the fifth set, sounds like Nando played insane.

It was a bit of a transition and some difficulty bringing on Becker, but the results were worth the trouble.

From the highlights, Fernando was still making enough UE in that set too.
What I am assuming is that Rafa got tired to run down and defend as many balls as in the first few sets.

Didn't look like Verdasco played anything too amazing. Just enough to get the job done.
