It's better to ask an ordinary tennis player whether he would prefer a GS or a gold medal from a tennis tournament at the Olympics. That would be the right question and the right answer. I believe that at least 90% of them would opt for GS.

Sure maybe most people will pick a slam, but most would also pick the Olympics over a M1000 and Atp final, which again is a flaw in the elo system. Too many flaws I don't know where to begin but I gave you already 3 examples.

The internet is filled with Serbian Djoker fans, who aren’t tennis fans, just fans of their hero. Which is great, it’s natural, he’s the most prominent sportsman from that region, far as I know. But the downside is that they think tennis began about 20 years ago, and they have little or no interest in tennis beyond what Novak is doing, which limits their knowledge of the game.

And also, of course, no matter what Novak does, they defend him, which isn’t reasonable, but it’s noticeable. But I don’t begrudge them their moment. It’s huge for them. It’s the non-Serbs who act like Novak is up against the whole world that’s out to get him who should know better..
