Finished House of Cards Season 1 - Top Quality. Just started watching Season 2. Season 2 of Narcos is on the immediate bucket list. Never watched Deadwood when it was on, so will look at this, and have Season 2 of Fargo waiting. So many good shows around these days.

@Mastoor mentioned Only Fools and Horses on another thread. This has to be my favourite sitcom of all time - Superb writing... Not sure how it would translate for American viewers (probably not too well - very British and lots of British slang). Nobody knows it in Australia, but I guess it was exported successfully to NZ.

I like Only Fools & Horses too but prefer Porridge & Open All Hours. Ronnie Barker was such a good comedian & he wrote some of his stuff himself though he didn't want credit for it to begin with. I've got his book "All I ever wrote". It's such a laugh.

The episode where Del goes to the yuppie bar has to rate as one of the funniest of all time. At least the clip where he falls. Let me see if I can find it...

^ Damn, you caught up quick! What do you think of season 4? How do you rank the years? I think I'd have it 4,3,1,2

I barrelled through them! I definitely think season 4 is the most dangerous for Ray. I loved season 3, the Armenians, Mickey and new job, especially when he was explaining to the girls how safe they'd feel working the street corners. :laydownlaughing

I honestly don't see how this season can end well for everyone, because the Russians are up a league again, from the Armenians. But I think I'd rate them the same as you: 4-3-1-2.

Some brilliant scenes throughout this show break the tension: Ray and Conor dancing to Walk This Way, then Ray doing karaoke. Mickey in the gay bar. Ray and Conor again, with Abby, dancing in front of the television. Loads of great scenes this series with Mickey and Ray in Primm.

Only two episodes left... :(

Ray is gonna have to kill that Russian mob boss.. He should make it very graphic and grotesque because Hell or death would have been a better option to Avi..those Russians crucified him.

Btw..what did you think about the way that season 3 ended..Ray's confession to father creepy ..that's was something I didn't see coming.

They had a Hollywood version of the Catholic Church, so many things were odd to me. For example, a priest can't excommunicate anybody, and yet they had the priest drop to his knees and shout a few phrases in Latin, thunder and lightning, loud choir music, hey presto! You just been excommunicated. That was silly, and two minutes of research would have told them that. Also Romero hounding Ray to go to confession. That was silly too.

They were dealing with a big tricky topic and they had to show the effects of abuse, then show how evil some priests were, then show how some priests are trying to help people. They didn't seem like they did any research, which is a pity because although it's fiction, it adds to it when they do things right. Plus it made me wonder then had they properly researched the victims and how badly they were affected. There was a whole story about Bunchie and his girlfriends kid. But anyway, it made for great drama.

But Ray confessing at the end? It was out of character, and they quickly removed Romero and the abuse story from season 4, so they must have realised how deadend that was with Ray. Unless they brought Romero back in the recent episode, I didn't get a chance to watch it yet...

I actually thought it was pretty well done. Ray wasn't confessing because he felt bad about killing the priest, it was just in that moment that he was hoping to become a better man for his family and he hoped that by confessing God would spare his brother Terry. Also we know that he never wanted to talk to those closest to him about the abuse and in this priest he saw a chance to get it all off his chest.

You can't excommunicate anyone out of the Catholic Church? I find that surprising. Our priests (Eastern Orthodox) do whatever the feck they want. If they don't like someone they tell them they are no longer welcome in the Church. Maybe it's a Greek thing.. yes probably is :)

A priest can't excommunicate anyone, and nobody would be excommunicated for refusing to go to confession. Priests don't hassle people into the confession box either. With excommunication, basically the person excommunicates themselves, like a person who'd claim to be vegetarian but who eats meat every Monday - they've removed themselves from vegetarianism. But in a formal sense, really, excommunication is a job for the pope, and it's generally got to do with holding or teaching "wrong beliefs", that is, stuff contrary to the faith of the church.

I didn't know you were Greek Orthodox, but that seems a bit brutal to run people like that. What reasons would they give?

Our priest was an egomaniac and didn't like differences of opinion. It was his way or the highway. Turns out he was embezzling money for many years too, has pretty much brought the church down to the ground.

Eurgggh, you get bad eggs everywhere. :nono

I hope they replaced him with a good one, and the church has revived.

I'm off to bed - to watch episode 11 of Ray Donovan, season 4! :clap

Ohhhh, I dunno how Ray is getting outta this one, unless that Sonia bird hasn't really blabbed. I'd never underestimate the incompetence and stupidity of Frank, the FBI bloke. Plus, I expect Cochran to show up? Will Hector really do what's been asked of him?

Was anybody else on the edge of their seat seeing Mickey with the bag of money, heading to Vegas - on a plane full of beautiful strippers? :laydownlaughing

I posted earlier that I expected Cochran to show up but I deleted it because I couldn't see any scenario where there was a gain for him. However .. We never know.

Yeah, Mickey and 2 million in the bag had me on the edge.

I will have my :popcorn ready this Sunday.

Surely the dirt Ray has on Frank is still, well, dirt on frank? Plus frank is an idiot.

You think Sonia really blabbed?

Yeah I will say that Sonia talking doesn't really make sense. It juices up the plot but it is kind of unrealistic which I don't really care for. However, that's a small complaint on what's been an awesome season.

Mickey's scenes were awesome. Was anyone else thinking he'd blow the 2 million on the strippers or somehow get robbed? That'd have been classic. Also the ping pong scene was awesome, that's a tough old man who was high as a kite at the time :)

I think Hector isn't going to take the fall and that will make for one hell of a final showdown with the Russians.

Was that really Jon Voight playing ping-pong, because if it was, he was brilliant! Every step of that Vegas trip had me edgy, for the same reasons as you: flashing a wad of cash at the type of girl who makes him go weak-kneed, then the journey to the rich blokes house, where I was sure he'd be mugged. The ping-pong match.

By the way, I hope that girl Sugar is in the next episode, and I bet you do too!

Yeah, I don't trust Hector and it's no way Ray is gonna give that Russian mob boss asshole 60 million..Sonia said something because Frank's details are too precise..

Yes. The ping pong match was excellent .Mickey was Stan the Man and that whimp was Djokerbitch

What's going on with Terry's health? He gets a new piece of ass( policewoman isn't a looker but she has a decent body.)

Lena is Ray's ace in the hole.. The Russians aren't really aware of her and she always is Ray's dark knight. I think she is gonna get the drop on the Russian mob boss and secure his final appointment with the grim reaper.

Hey, wasn't that a brilliant scene when Sonia came over Ray's house and Abby told her that Ray screwing her was the norm for him, no big deal.:clap
