One of my favourite bands, Murat. Hard for me to pick one song, there are many that calmed me down when needed: Hey you, Wish You Were Here or this one:

This is probably my favourite. My band use to cover this song and I would just close my eyes and play the drums, in my own world...This song can take you to interesting places in your mind.

Pretty criminal that this song has so few views on Youtube especially as Dan Swano's bands are all pretty decent (he has tons of bands). Some good old school gothic metal here.

More Killing Joke. Hadn't listened to them in ages but the whole Pandemonium album from 1994 is great. 20 years old and still sounds modern and cutting edge.

Status Quo is one of my favorite bands through almost 50 years - they are celebrating 50 years in 2014 I discovered them a bit later. I think you'll enjoy this full concert brought on the BBC2 a while ago, where they for the first time are playing accustic - with a little help from some friends. Download it or see it before BBC removes it again it's good stuff:

Man, there are so many , from many different genres.

Jazz, Big Band, Fusion: Buddy Rich, Gene Krupa, Philly Joe Jones, Dave Weckl, Steve Gadd, Art Blakey...

Rock ,Pop: Carter Beauford, MIke Portnoy, Jojo Mayer, Jeff Porcaro, Simon Phillips, Thomas Lang,

..and a million others that I have studied, listened to and admired. There a lot of talented guys out there. Your avatar himself, Mr. Helm being one of them...an immensely talented and musical drummer he was. :)

Stevie Gadd, 50 Ways to leave your lover. He was on several Paul Simon records, great drummer.

On his death day, Mozart is all I'm listening to...except this just now!

Any other fans of Yes? I love their earlier work, namely the songs Heart of the Sunrise and Sweetness, both used in Vincent Gallo's masterful film, Buffalo '66.

I'm going back many a year and listening all weekend to Bob Dylan and The Band down in the basement of ol' Big Pink outside Woodstock, New York. The Basement Tapes always refreshes my soul. So, y'all tell everybody down in ol' 'Frisco that Tiny Montgomery's comin' down to say hello., ...

As I'm Goin' to Acapulco.

I am using Spotify now and it has been leading me into Nashville Skyline and John Wesley Harding now and then--an added bonus.

I am very happy for Joan Jett making it into the Rock'n Roll Hall Of Fame. I remember watching the video for " I love Rock'n Roll" over and over again and thinking " This chick has bigger balls than any man I know". She was so bad ass...in a male dominated genre, no less. :clap

How come you's never told me about these boys? Saw them last night in Dublin - ecstatic show! Rowdy, chaotic, gypsy-punk-metal-bedlam-brilliant!

This video makes me very thankful for black influence on popular music.....white people can be such tools when they get fired up like that. Good grief

Yeah - here!
I was 14 when a friend handed me a tape with Nighttime on it. And it changed my life.
Definitely the formative influence for my taste in music.
I remember how I chose this song here when we had to play our favorite bands in school. To my stunned bewilderment my teacher loved it - "finally a band who know how to tune their instruments."
I guess you can love Killing Joke for all sorts of things.

You're a drummer, I've seen. Always nice to meet fellow musicians. :)
I've been singing in bands for over 20 years. Not really badass, I'll admit it, but still a woman in a band scene dominated by men. It does make you the big attraction though.

Try being a female drummer like I was, especially during the 80s & 90s. I'm also glad to meet some fellow musicians.
