I'm not sure I'd go so far as masterpiece, but I thought it was bloody good. (You'll forgive the pun.) Tarantino is a helluva great filmmaker. I already said what I thought (above,) but I'll add that the Ennio Morricone score was perfect, I loved the old-school "overture" and "intermission," and the actors were clearly having the time of their lives.brokenshoelace said:So was I the only one who thought The Hateful Eight was masterpiece?
In fairness, Margaret, it's not really a film directed towards a woman's sensibility, if I can say that. Which doesn't mean we can't appreciate it, since I did. We went 4 people to see it. I was the only woman. We were divided on opinion, and I was one of the two who most liked it. One of my friends said, if we're going to speak of "chick-flicks," we should also speak of "dick-flicks." Pretty funny way to put it, and not wrong, if you ask me. But, if the majority of filmmakers are going to still be men, and therefore so some of the most artful, we will be compelled, if we want to see some of the better cinematic art, to watch films that are not especially made for us, as women. So I say go head-on in, and appreciate the beauty and artistry, in spite of the brutality, as in the case of Revenant, and Hateful 8. But also, when you can, support real art films made by women.Carol,
Thanks.I guess I should have not been so narrow minded when I saw the shorts of the film,it kind of turned me off quite frankly. Most of the posters here, like you, really appreciated the film.

I love bad movies...
Never liked that movie. Never understood what all the fuss was about. :nonoKieran said:I'm watching Gladiator again, first time since I saw it in the cinema and was unimpressed.
25 minutes in and I'm gonna give up again for another fifteen years... :nono
