Those 2 events are Dubai and Indian Wells which she didn't even play. Taking into consideration that Serena skipped a premier mandatory and got injured at the biggest tournament so far this year (AO), its pretty amazing that she's only 105 points from first place!

Except that Maria didn't plan to play Dubai, Serena did and pulled out.

Serena didn't PLAY Dubai, she withdrew before her first match, which equated to zilch. Remember, Maria pulled out of Brisbane.

Why do some -- some -- Serena fans go after Sharapova so harshly? It strikes me as ridiculously over-the-top.

I would get it if it were a situation like Federer fans getting angry at Rafa, since Nadal has a 2-1 winning record over Roger. But Serena owns Maria. There's no other way to put it.

The amount of time and energy some fans put into tearing down Maria is the message board equivalent of killing a fly with a cannon ball.

Do you even like tennis? Or are you just in it for the beat-downs?

Bad judgement perhaps? I mean, if I was a Serena fan I would have nothing but praise for Sharapova, Azarenka and the rest of them. It will only make Serena look even better. But if you talk as though Maria and Vika are no good and Serena beats them, well, no big deal than is it? "Congrats, you're better than a couple of scrubs."

I love tennis very much but the hype surrounding pova makes her beatdowns so much fun ....my favorite amongst them all was the Olympics final and followed by Miami13..

I'm a fan of all three women. Serena the most. But I love Maria and Vika as well. BUT... the fact that Serena crushes them so easily makes me wonder if in fact they are scrubs. I would find it difficult to make a strong case for that. But, it has crossed my mind.
