Kskate would probably pass out if he did...:) with Joy of course.

You’re aping @Kieran — arguably the biggest Rafa fan I know — who originally came up with that nickname. I’ll let him tell you the ones he’s come up with for Roger.
Exactly. Ralph Christmas, on occasion. But I do think you have to be a fan to make "Ralph" sound affection, as it's not nearly as melodious as "Rafael." And when someone like GSM uses it, one who actively despises Rafa, it does land with a thud. When I use Djoker to refer to Novak, I know it sounds different than when a fan does, and so I use it intentionally, when I do, and with that understanding.

Bad luck he is on my list as a dangerous seeded floater.

It is not my definition, but a standard one. The term "floater" connotes the idea that they can be placed anywhere in the draw. The seeds have designated places in the draw (either individually like #1 and #2 or as a group like #4 to #8 will be placed in some order here). That is why a floater has to be an unseeded player.

If you want to include seeded players. There are many others (apart form Ugo) who could cause an upset. The tall trees of Isner and Opelka are always dangerous and can cause upset. FAA, Aslan, Sinner could do potentially as well. The britishers Evans and Norrie might cause an upset buoyed by local crowd. Fritz might catch fire too.

I already know that,I always think outside the square and I am keeping Ugo on my list as a dangerous seeded floater.

I put this link here because the argument was here too. Sorry it’s in Spanish but I’m sure Moxie can understand

He said his foot was a mess during the pandemic, but he never cited this as a reason for skipping the US Open last year, nor did he cite his preparation for RG, as Front insists, though I do think that most of us figured that had something to do with it.

I keep forgetting his recent surgery. He will only be dangerous to himself by playing (might get hurt and go out of action for an year).

Reed well, he said because the foot he couldn't practice too much and two weeks before Roma he wasn't sure in what conditions he would arrive. By logic he wasn't well prepared to play the USO which was before Roma

Selecting the winner of a recent 500 Grass tourney is not so much thinking outside the box though.

I can still remember Becker winning Queens in '85! BJK was a commentator and she said he was a "dark horse" and likely dangerous floater at Wimbledon! The horrific weather helped save Becker more than once! It was an absolute deluge with water flowing as if over a cliff it was so ridiculous! Upsets of McEnroe and Connors in QF & SF (resp.) by Curren also increased his odds of winning! I was so hoping Anders Jarryd would make a name for himself outside of his temper being part of the Swedish contingent! He was even with Becker in the SF when the rains came yet again! Both had great hair as well! :lol6:

I do think that we're able to use the looser version of "dangerous floater" around here. Technically, the seeds only avoid each other up until the 3rd round, earliest, and that is still pretty early. Humbert is outside of the top 16, and he's trending, so I'm sure no one is going to want to see him early in their draw. On GSM's "official" list of dangerous floaters, it's hard to agree with Anderson. I don't expect much out of Cilic, either, though he did just win Stuttgart. And I don't suppose Novak or Roger would want to see him first or second round. Kyrgios is always a mystery, so we'll see how he shows up, I guess.

I did read it, but what I'm saying is that he never made that public and he never said that's why he didn't play the USO, including in this interview. If you want to keep making every choice Rafa makes about injuries, though, have at it. The rest of us will just suffer the fall-out.

Knowing Rafa regardless of the outcome in matches,he always congratulates his opponent when he loses, even some journalists at times over years have question him in press conference 's bringing up injury in a tournament, hinting the reason he lost,he just dismisses the questions.

Nope, it's not because I want it but because it was a fact and for any reason you don't want to see it, even at that time I read it in AS, Marca , El Pais and another magazines which means he made that public because he tried to explain why he wasn't in good conditions to play in the USO. Anyway it's ok, lets leave it

True but later if he had an injury he talks about it like all of them do, and I think it's correct because everybody like to know how they feel physically. I can tell you from now than sunner or later we'll know more how he is feeling and why really he skips WB and the JJOO

Whatever we decide about Wimbledon, I'm perfectly happy that he's skipping the Olympics (JJOO). He's got no good reason to play, particularly in a pandemic, and it will keep him fresher for the USO and No. Am Swing, which is a better choice.

Hopefully not why he "really" lost in RG.
