I haven't read anything about this. And I don't know who the lady is, other than what I read just now from you.

Moxie, this is the 2nd time (previously on the old board and now) I read your posts about France vs Spain. I have to admit I have no knowledge about any animosity (if it exists) between the two countries. But there is something like this between other countries: USA vs Russia as an example.

US v. Russia is not about being neighbors, that's rather about the Cold War and being Super Powers. That's not the same thing. I'm talking about being neighbors and nearly brothers. That's where it gets so tricky. France and Spain share dialects and a Basque issue, but France thinks itself vastly superior to Spain. (@isabelle: tell me I'm wrong.) Argentina and Chile are another example. (Believe me, Chile thinks Argentine looks down it's nose at them. And they have practically the same accent on Spanish.) Actually, perhaps Serbia v. Croatia is an example you'd get. It's a kind of filial competition.

The best article on the Bachelot kerfuffle is in French: http://www.lemonde.fr/tennis/articl...afael-nadal-et-le-dopage_4881445_1616659.html

At least they put it in the context of a chat show, and said she was putting herself up for a lawsuit.

Then you have different information than I have through a good sources from French people that know her better than you and me and have tell me many things about her
Nadal is taking care about that defamation with the help of his lawyers (it's about time) and yes, this story has not finished yet but I hope she and his friend Noah pay soon their acts. Like someone has said: " hey, I can say that she is a prostiute because I heard it in the subway"
Come on, a public figure should have a lot more careful with what to say and she should know that when you accuse to someone you has to do with a proof. To talk is easy and it not cost any money but this time I think she will have to pay more than a few Euros or will have to retract of all what she has said

Mrs Bachelot is well know here...she always make some stupid comments and made a fool of herself when she was a Health's minister : she bought 90 millions of H5N1 vaccins even if France needed much much less...the result was more taxes for French citizens and French gov obliged to sold back those useless vaccins we lost a lot of money thanks to Mrs Bachelot... she'got a poor reputation in France, you should read what we said about her on French forums...(moron is how we call her)
Now she left politic field, she goes to all talk show to say bullshit and accuse anyone with no proof, she's an unfair and stupid lady we hate her over here. Please don't believe a single word she says
All French players support Nadal vs Mrs Bachelot, hope he can win in justice court, I'm fed up with all this affair she gives France a bad name and we don't need that

some French in sports and political circles have a problem with the Spanish athletes dominating their big national events like the tour and RG for decades.

French tennis academies are among the best in the world and yet they are no big names in tennis from that country.

when was the last time a French tennis player won RG? yannick noah was the last one about 100 years ago.

it may never happen again.

Back to the subject, Rafa plays his IW doubles partner Verdasco later today.
They not surprisingly lost their doubles match to the Bryan brothers.
They made it to the super tiebreaker, didn't play well to go down 3-8, came back to tie it at 8-8,
then Nadal nervously double faulted into the net for 8-9 and then over hit a fairly easy midcourt forehand to lose the tiebreaker 8-10 and the match.
It seems Rafa's nerves are shot in the tight situations, singles or doubles.
He seems these days like an old golfer with the yips when he putts; can't make one from two feet away.
Anyway, I don't believe doubles helps Rafa's game that much.

Join the Super Tiebreaker at about 13:30 in the video at 2-5 Bryans. Verdasco hit an amazing series of reflex volleys, but shanked an easy put away near the net.

Now Nadal and Verdasco play each other again after Rafa lost to him in 5 sets at the Australian Open.
I wouldn't be surprised at any result.
But for Rafa to win, I believe he has to take it in straight sets.
His decider record has been decidedly poor as of late.

Respectfully,
masterclass

Not wrong, MC. And he did manage it in straights, just barely, in the TB. Against a fairly tepid Nano. We'll take it. But as to topic, the fighting of the doping allegations isn't actually "off." And I'll arm-wrestle anyone who thinks they have a claim. I hope he makes good and sues the pants off of that woman Bachelot.

we will take any and all wins but the one huge problem continues to be lack of reasonable level of fitness and physicality for Rafa.

he said he is very tired. he simply has to go work on that instead of wasting crucial and limited time that is remaining with golf courses, vacations, and meaningless exos.

time is very limited now and rapidly running out.

nothing has changed. he will still find it very difficult to make any serious inroads at any event.

fitness and physicality issue has to be dealt with which calls for a sacrifice.

My goodness ClayDeath, what Rafa's match have you seen? sorry but you seem to be very unfair, he is coming back from a huge mentally rough patch, he is improving and I can tell you from now that he will give me more happiness this summer though you probably will continue critizing him more and more :spank:

I am not happy with the clay warrior.

He is not yet playing his best but I can see on him a good improvement since the last tournament he played, he will do better

Last night's win was good for him. Sure, it came with some luck, but it also came from digging deep and fighting for it. There is almost nothing more dangerous than a teenager with nothing to lose, no fear. And Zverev has a lot of things that trouble Nadal: height, big serve, great 2HBH. Great for the confidence going forward, which is the most important thing.

it is the end of the line now. nishikori will take him down in straights.

we know he is not going to skip Miami. we also know he is likely to hang around and play more golf.

it is looking like a disaster again on clay but that is what he wants.

Sampras calls his losses shocking on clay. I don't . I knew this was going to happen.

it is about to get worse once he hits the clay circuit. he is going to Miami and he has indoor hard court exos lined up before the clay season.

you just cant win with this fitness level and you cant win if you don't want to win.

I would forget about those stupid exos which are on hard courts to begin with. I would skip Miami and head straight to Mallorca and get on clay.

I would also take in a small clay event before monte carlo. that is the ticket.

Melbourne, rio and Buenos aires should told you folks all you need to know.

there is some small chance you can play into shape also but his style is too demanding. he has been shedding fitness and physicality for 4 years now.

you cant make that up with a few wins here and there. too much inactivity killed his game and his fitness and his physicality.

no wonder djokovic's dad wants rafa to hang around another 4 years so his son can continue to swat him aside like a hapless mosquito.

CD can't even enjoy a decent and ego-boosting win. Some people won't be pleased

Ha ha ha ha.

You people are just too funny.

And who said i am watching Rafa.

I refuse to watch him play in this pathetic state.

Let's see some very serious work on the fitness front and on the practice courts.

more next time.

I am out on the beach.

Checking the scores:

Pleasant surprise. We will take any and all wins.

That still does not mean I am happy with the clay warrior.
