How long ago one tournament has such importance like this incoming RG 2015 ? High attitudes, expectations, detroning king and geting new one... or huge fiasco at the end.

What would you consider to be a "huge fiasco?"

Because of JesusLooksLiek Borg, the phrase 'huige fiansco' brings to my mind a very overwight fenancdo verdaco!

Considering his retirement today in Nice, I doubt Kyrgios will make too much noise in this slam. He'll be lucky if he is able to reach R3, his seeding, if he starts at all.

That is what he says too, but a sore elbow due to "I have played a lot of tennis recently" does not sound good entering in the most grueling slam.

Rafa's looking way worse and Nole is looking way better than last year. But it is best of 5 which I think could help Rafa in a couple ways. I wonder if Nole would actually prefer having Rafa in his Qtr instead of the finals. It increases Nole's chances of not making the final but it also increases Nole's chances of beating Rafa IMO.

There's pro's and con's in this one, isn't there? Obviously, neither of them should have peaked in the tournament by the quarters, and since Rafa can only get better, this might not be such an enticing prospect for Nole. Plus, even if he wins that match, he then has two further matches to negotiate, where the pressure will only grow exponentially.

But in the plus column, there's less spotlight on the quarters, and there'd be more pressure on Rafa. Facing Nole so early would only highlight how far he is from fully getting back to his best. It might deflate the great champ even more.

As a Rafa fan, I don't mind what stage he's at when he faces Novak, so long as he's making it through the rounds to get there...

I disagree with the first para in your reply. With each match won at RG, Rafa will keep gaining confidence and will become gradually more dangerous. So, there is no pro and con here. It is in Novak's interest to play Rafa as early as possible (if at all he has to play).

Every time I see this Ward character I have to shake my head! How does he compete against our best in Davis Cup, upsets Isner and Querrey in successive years, but he can't get through quails? :cover uzzled :nono :angel:

Bummed to see Kyrgios is injured. Gulbis is playing badly, and surely will not get far. Is his shoulder healed?

I want all the good dirt ballers in top form so we get competitive matches. Otherwise, we will just sit around waiting for the Djoke vs Nadal final. I am hoping for a new FO champ this year. Nine in a row is enough. Nadal's game is a bore.
