Look how cute he is  Gustavo of course. Very tall too!!

General, I'm not sure which tourny (Rome or MC), but he was on his way to win the FO that year.

duchess dj kuerten was about 6 foot 3. may even have been a tiny bit taller than that.

not sure about Ferrero: could be about 6 feet.

they were both absolute artists on the red clay.

Yup, I saw Gustavo live and in action at Roland Garros. He was playing on an outside court and I was basically on the court with him, lol lol. No kidding

so at that height he had some leverage going for him.

no wonder he could crack that backhand.

it was a fantastic backhand anyway. the mechanics appear very sound to me.

emma what are andy`s chances in cincy?

do you rate those chances high or low for a title?

and what about roger? can he defend his title there?

I don't think Andy's too keen to win this title. He'll play along without much effort. If he wins that's fine if not, then move on to USO where he is aiming to defend his title. He doesn't have much to defend here in Cincy.

As to Federer, if he doesn't meet with Nadal then he has a much greater chance to make the final but then again, I believe Nole will be keen to win and he's the runner up here, so he has points to defend as well.

It's a tricky Masters given that USO is close to it. I don't like this one, Paris and Madrid Masters in general.

agreed. its hard to say at this point who will make the hard push for the title.

the risk for injury is a factor to be taken into consideration.

u.s. open is now just 12 days away.

fresh roses delivered daily for the ladies at the castle:

:snigger

Question is, would herc darling actually buy those roses if that were the case? Because cutting and pasting is such an effortless and not to mention, 'cheap' job on the internet.

Muwahahahhahaha but hey, you can't say you didn't see that coming. :p

there was some talk about stan smith earlier.

looks like he is the one who came along and broke up the Australian domination of the top spots in tennis a little bit:

he came in at #2 in 1971.

in 1968, it was Arthur ashe who busted up the aussie monopolization of the top spots. he too ended that year at #2.

1970 top spots:

1. john newcombe
2. ken rosewall
3. tony roche
4. rod laver

1969 top spots:

1. rod laver
2. tony roche
3. john newcombe
4. ken rosewall

those were the glory years for the mighty aussies. they ruled the planet.
