by the way does anybody know how many match wins serena has at the u.s. open?

and who has the record for the most match wins here? is it roger Federer? lendl? Connors?

Last night they said Chrissie has like 100+ USO wins and she's in the lead. If I remember correctly, Serena is at 50+ (not sure of the exact numbers). And yes, Roger leads for the men with five straight titles.

chrissie: what a legend. was she the one they used to call "the ice maiden"? or "the ice princess" or something like that?

I will have to read about her exploits at RG. I don't even know how many RG crowns she owns.

:D:D

Chrissie won 7 RG's, 6 USO titles, 2 AO's and 3 Wimby. She was definitely a force on the clay. To date she has the best winning % on clay and she's reached the most slam finals than any man or woman (34).

what was her game like?

did she have a dominating serve? how about the net game? could she go forward and end points at the net?

it is clear she had a bullet proof ground game and obviously great movement.

trivia question for the Castle;

which commentator said this, about which player last year?

"This is pure genius. You can't teach shots like this. That's a half-volley, open stance, with a single-handed backhand. Last time we saw one of those, God was a boy."

I will take a crack at this:

it might have been Justin gimelstobb talking about roger Federer.

She was a tactician. A mental giant (that's where the ice princess comes from). She didn't have a big serve, but she had a great double BH and early racquet preparation. She'd come to net when it warranted, but she wasn't a S/V like Martina.

interesting stuff.

so she, like andre Agassi, was a pioneer of the sport.

they both showed that you can dominate from the backcourt.

Agassi went one step further: he showed that you can rule the game if you have deadly finishing power off both wings.

but you had to be consistent off both wings which means relatively flawless mechanics.
