I'm gonna go with Nadal winning US Open. Murray may end up on Nole's half, and the winner will face the Master of this year. Federer will reach the quarters, but not more, and there will be at least one surprise quarter-finalist -> maybe even 1 surprise semifinalist. My crystal ball predictions...

In the Murray-Nadal final with Nadal a winner scenario, Nadal becomes the World Number 1 after USO.

Federer even lost the Bronze medal match back then.

Sydney 2000, when USA was still dominating sprint events. I remember them winning 4*100m and 4*400m relays plus Maurice Greene winning 100m and Michael Johnson winning 400m. But they've lost that 4*400m gold because of Antonio Pettigrew's doping case. A sad story is that Pettigrew committed a suicide some years ago.

Anyway, I've been a big USA fan in athletics since those days, I remember US 1-2-3 in Worlds' 100m in 2001, even though original #2, Tim Montgomery lost his medal because of doping. And you know I am a big fan of shot putter Adam Nelson.

Unfortunately USA isn't anymore quite as successful in athletics. The 14th World Ch'ships ended last weekend and it was the 4th time USA didn't win the medal table but Russia won. Russia won the medal table also in 2001, the previous time USA didn't win. Jamaica's dominance in sprint events costs USA many medals, they are also USA's best events.

Russia and the USA had a great race in the women's 4x400, I think a bad switch on the last leg cost America. Girl had to run across the lanes to find the next runner.

Both nations seriously need to clean up their acts - Russia is even more suspect than the USA and Jamaica - but I love watching athletics too and missed a lot of the World Championships, unfortunately...

Russia and the USA had a great race in the women's 4x400, I think a bad switch on the last leg cost America. Girl had to run across the lanes to find the next runner.

Both nations seriously need to clean up their acts - Russia is even more suspect than the USA and Jamaica - but I love watching athletics too and missed a lot of the World Championships, unfortunately...

It feels sad that the best US sprinter, Justin Gatlin, has had two doping offences. Hard to cheer for him. But anyway it's hard to believe there are clean athletes in the 100m final. So many successful sprinters have been caught recently.

That's true about Gatlin and the 100m in general. Plus, the Jamaican girl who won the 100m has served a short ban, and Christine Ohurogue served a ban for skipping tests. It's disheartening to see these athletes take medals.

In terms of the events, Usain is still the leader in charisma, a guy who shines brightly like Muhammad Ali. He's beginning to look more relieved than happy after he takes gold, but then again, he's only ever expected to win and can't afford a bad race. I missed the 4x100 final, too, which annoyed me!

I wonder why the marathoners and other long distance runners (5000 meters and 10,000 meters) are not getting caught using performance enhancing drugs.

USA had a lead over Jamaica at the 3rd exchange but a bad exchange enabled Jamaica to catch USA and then Bolt run away from Gatlin. With a better exchange USA could've had a chance for win.
