That head to head score is surprising to me, I thought it was closer than that.

Anyway I noticed that Tomas is nearing 500 wins, hopefully that happens soon and I don't think too many players today can claim that.

Yep! Only two more wins to 500!

Doesn't it say 494 in your post or was that before this tournament started?

I read a write up on his semifinal win that he is only two wins away.

Yeah, I read it just now as well. With 4 wins here so far, he is just 2 away from reaching 500 club, not too shabby!!!

Berdych started off great by winning the opening set but Stan Wawrinka stepped up when he had to to win his sixth straight over Tomas. Three months ago, Wawrinka beat Berdych 1 and 1 in the round robin stage of the World Tour Final so Berdych has to feel that he is improving. I think he is working well with Vallverdu and Berdych will really get it going as the Slam Season approaches. Still have to believe that Berdych has a Slam in him somewhere before he starts to succumb to age.

Berdych continues his quest for his first title of 2015 at Dubai next week. This is his fourth tournament of the year and his record is 13-3. He lost to David Ferrer in the Doha final, lost to David Murray in the AO semifinals, and lost to Stan Wawrinka in the Rotterdam final. Berdych made the Dubai final last year where he lost to Federer in three sets after taking the first.
In this year's tournament, he is seeded 4th and will play No. 35 Jeremy Chardy of France. Berdych leads the H2H 2-0 but they haven't met since 2011.

He's tweeting about the sandstorm as he gets ready for the tournament.

Berdych struggled through his first round match against No. 34 Jeremy Chardy but worked through a 7-6(2), 6-4 win in the first round of Dubai. He now faces No.52 Simone Bolelli in the 2nd round. Bolelli just won the Australian Open doubles title with Fabio Fognini and has actually given Berdych some trouble in the past. Berdych leads their H2H 3-2 but Bolelli's last win over Berdych was in 2009.

Actually I was thinking it was Federer, Nadal, Berdych and Djokovic.

Watched the Berdych match vs. Bolelli yesterday and Berdych really had trouble with Bolelli's pace and forehand at times. It seems like he never got into a grove but he hung on when he had to. Bolelli seemed the better player in the first set and even had a set point at 6-5 in the TB, but Berdych somehow hung on. That's great to see him play like that in a tight spot. Berdych got a bit unsettled with some calls late in the second set and dropped it 5-7, but then he got down to business while Bolelli suddenly went wild and Berdych bageled him in the third.
Berdych now plays No. 53 Sergiy Stakhovsky in the quarterfinals. Berdych leads the H2H 3-0.

Berdych defeated No. 53 Stakhovsky 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 to sdvsnce to the Dubai semifinals. He'll face No. 1 Djokovic for the first time since the WTF in November. Djokovic leads the H2H 17-2. Berdych's last last win over Djokovic was in Rome 2013. Going to be interesting to see how Berdych's game will go against Djokovic.

Berdych loses in the semifinal of Dubai and even though the score was better than the last time he met Djokovic, he is still searching for that first tournament win of 2015. His results have not been too shabby with two runner up finishes, the semifinals in the other two tournaments he has played and a 16-4 record for the year. But his ranking now slips to number 9 with Ferrer winning Acapulco and moving past him. Berdych can make up some points in the upcoming doubles Masters. He was upset in the second round at Indian Wells and he made it to the semifinals at Miami only to withdraw last year so he has a chance to get his points back up a bit.

Tomas is out of the top 8 for the first time since Oct. 2010. Let's see how and when he will rebound.

Berdych is seeded No. 9 at this year's Indian Wells Masters. He is in Stan Wawrinka's draw and if he gets through that, he will have to face Roger Federer in the quarterfinals. He got a first round bye and will face No. 50 Sergiy Stakhovsky in the 2nd round. Berdych lead the H2H 4-0. They just met in Dubai last month and Berdych own in three sets. Berdych lost in the 2nd round here last year so this is a good chance for him to rack up some points and get back into the top 8.

So far so good for Berdych! He has beaten Sergiy Stakhovsky and Steve Johnson in straight sets to advance to the 4th round of IW. With Wawrinka knocked out early, it looks like he could be facing Roger Federer for the first time since '14 Dubai. Berdych has won five of the last nine matchups with Federer so it could be a good one. But Berdych will need to get through Rosol. The fellow Czechs have met only once, back in 2012 when Berdych won in straight sets at Rotterdam.

Berdych will go up against No. 2 Federer in the IW quarterfinals today. Berdych has been so solid this season, not allowing any lower ranked players to upset him. He has made at least the semifinals in all four tournaments he has played but he has not been able to win a title. Federer leads the H2H 12-6, but Berdych has won the last 5 of 9 between the two.
