This AO was like 2010 Wimbledon (Berdych beat Federer but lost to Nadal).
Or a bit like Soderling at 2009/2010 RG.
Or Tsonga at 2008 AO and 2011 Wimbledon.
Lots of these guys are able to beat a big gun at a slam, but 2 big guns within days of each other?
Not gonna happen (except for Del Potro 2009 USO and Wawrinka 2014 AO).

Nevah say nevah! When you have two exceptions to your never, it kinda blows your theory to all to seven hells.

I like Berdych and I was so excited about him playing Murray as I saw all but one of his previous matches in Melbourne. I think he still needs to work on the mental side. He should have done better in the semi, but it is what it is. Good luck to him for the rest of the season.:D

The ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament starts Monday, Feb. 9 in Rotterdam. Berdych is the defending champion and he will face the female Sharapova Jerzy Janowicz in the first round. Berdych leads the H2H 3-0. Their last meeting was this same tournament last year. Berdych beat Janowicz in three sets in the QFs. Go Berdych!

Berdych's 1st round opponent Janowicz has dropped out and Berdych will now play lucky loser No. 99 Tobias Kamke. Their H2H is 1-1, with Kamke winning their first match back in 2010 and Berdych winning the next one in 2013.

Berdych WAS my favorite opponent for Nadal.
Now Federer/Raonic/Dimitrov is.

Berdych was cruising for a while but was pushed in the second set. Eventually beats Kamke 6-1, 7-5 to move on. He'll play the winner of Robin Haase and Andreas Seppi in the next round.

Berdych plays Andreas Seppi in the 2nd round. Seppi has been playing good tennis this year so it could be a good match. Berdych leads the H2H 7-2 and the last six matches between the two. Seppi last beat Berdych in 2008. The match is the 2nd match on Center Court so they will play probably around 7 am US EST.

Berdych started off great, got whacked in the neck by a ricocheted ball, Seppi played some great tennis to take the third but Berdych stepped up when he had to and took the third to move on to the QFs. He will face No. 21 Gael Monfils for a spot in the semifinals. Berdych leads 3-1 but Monfils won their last match in the first round of the 2013 French Open. It was a 4-hour, 5-set match with three tiebreaks and ending 7-5 in the third. Should be a very entertaining match.

Berdych played a great match against Monfils and won 6-1, 6-4. His serve was really on today. He now moves on to the semifinals when he will play No. 8 seed Gilles Simon who upset No. 1 Murray. Simon leads this H2H 6-3. Simon has won the last 4 of 5 between the two including last year's Shanghai Masters.

Maybe Tomas can now upset the H2H against Gillou, the same way he did with Andy today.

At this point (SF round), the odd makers pick Tomas to get the title

A bit surprising but maybe they are watching how well Berdych is playing. Still, today's semifinal with Simon is a tricky one for him and Wawrinka/Raonic will be tough to beat in the final.

Berdych has played some unbelieveable tennis this week. He looks so strong and ready. His serve has been outstanding and his backhand down the line has been really good. And that forehand. My gawd. He just looks so big, strong and confident on the court this week. Hope the same Berdych shows up against Wawrinka. Wawrinka leads the H2H 10-5 and has won the last five matches, including the 6-1, 6-1 beatdown in the World Tour Finals in November. Wawrinka should be the favorite so it will be very interesting to see how this week's Berdych will do against him. Go Berdych!

That head to head score is surprising to me, I thought it was closer than that.

Anyway I noticed that Tomas is nearing 500 wins, hopefully that happens soon and I don't think too many players today can claim that.

Yep! Only two more wins to 500!

Doesn't it say 494 in your post or was that before this tournament started?
