RE: Your Favorite Quotes

You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life.

A fanatic is one who can't change his mind and won't change the subject.(lol)

Great quote. This should be the subtitle of a few threads lately.

RE: Your Favorite Quotes

Like the Churchill ones, especially his exchange with Lady Astor, that murat mentioned. These two hated each other.

Other exchanges in parliament included:

Lady Astor: Winston, you're drunk
Churchill: And you madam are ugly. But I shall be sober in the morning!

another exchange occurred when Churchill enquired what disguise he should wear at Lady Astor's masquerade ball.
"Why don't you come sober prime minister?" was her sharp reply.

Speaking of good Churchill quotes:

Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy. - Winston Churchill

Sounds like somebody is talking my language.

"It only stands to reason that where there's sacrifice, there's someone collecting the sacrificial offerings. Where there's service, there is someone being served. The man who speaks to you of sacrifice is speaking of slaves and masters, and intends to be the master."

RE: Your Favorite Quotes

"Throughout the centuries there were men who took first steps down new roads armed with nothing but their own vision. Their goals differed, but they all had this in common: that the step was first, the road new, the vision unborrowed, and the response they received — hatred. The great creators — the thinkers, the artists, the scientists, the inventors — stood alone against the men of their time. Every great new thought was opposed. Every great new invention was denounced. The first motor was considered foolish. The airplane was considered impossible. The power loom was considered vicious. Anesthesia was considered sinful. But the men of unborrowed vision went ahead. They fought, they suffered and they paid. But they won."

—AYN RAND
