It's happening, volume III is to happen!

If Sloane wins again, will it be the passing of the torch?

No one beats Serena twice in a row, right?

PS. Edited for Serena's win, previously titled, "Sloane waiting for Serena".

Not really Kui, Remember Maria beat Serena twice in a row

back in '04. And we all know what Serena did with that torch

And has been doing with it for 10 years

I know. But they were saying the same thing back then

Even after '05 AO Carillo said Maria was the better player

tho Serena won in a close match. It wasn't til later when

Ree started really whuppin her did it stop. I think Sherona

and Carillo may still think it.

yes, I know they have to hype up the match

but they need to keep it on the real. I mean its

really a disservice and maybe even an insult to

the casual fan to the point of deception.

RE: Sloane vs. Serena: Vol. II

Even though Serena had very little difficulty with Shevdova, she looked tired and obviously disinterested in having to play such a late night game. I hope I see that energy level at full tilt when she plays Sloane. Even this north of the border watcher will have a keen interest in the match. Pam Schriver really can annoy me sometimes with her inane questions, Mike is okay, Chrissie does a decent yet boring job. Will see what the CBS crew has in store for the weekend.

Doesn't "passing of the torch" require the player whom the torch is supposely being passed to actually win a major or at least one of the bigger tour events?

They should not let Pam do the interview as they are walking onto the court. She's asking questions such as, just an example, "last time she beat you love and love, how will it be different?"

Why would you do that type of question as players are about to play?

These typically are the best Serena matches, the Revenge Big PayBack...I would like to know Serena's record against an opponent afterwards of suffering a defeat to the same player..

Serena will have much energy for Sloane and will be extremely focused. Good match against Shevedova. She had pace on her serves and could hold her own on the baseline. It was a good match for Serena because Shevedova is a good mover and ran down many balls.

I agree with Calvy. The torch is not passed until Serena is beaten AND Sloane wins a final, preferably a slam final. Sloane flames out in small tournies and has not made a final as yet.

Agree with you about the announcers. I think Darren Cahill also does a good job. Brad Gilbert truly works my nerves.

Sloane has had 2 chances this year to get to a slam final and muffed both attempts. She was especially close in that Bartoli match. Until she wins a tournament of any kind and dethrones Serena off the #1 perch, no torch is being passed.

Ouch! They love to stir up controversy, but that was just plain mean.

It isn't they as much as it is Pam. She is just awful at pre-match interviews. She does better w/ courtside commentary as the match is going on or her interviews of the coaching staff in the stands.

It will either be Serena and Sloane or Jankovic and Li that will be the night match the others are not compelling enough to me to warrant it.
