Don't know where else to ask this and I don't think it's even important but I'll drop this here anyway:

What's the difference between "thanks" and "like"? If I like a post, do I "like" it or "thank" the poster? I noticed it doesn't show when someone likes your post so thanking is the way to go?

Hey BS - I was going to work on the Like feature to make it better, but thinking about it, it might be better to just rename the Thanks button to Like and do way with the thumbs up altogether.  Probably not much point having both.

I like this idea and thank you for it.

Hey @mashafan,

The intention is to split the WTA and ATP once we generate the userbase to support it.  We're not far away and I reckon with the plans going forward on recruitment then we should be in a position to do that within a month from now (end Nov). If all things go to plan, there should be a large influx of new users through November.

Looking forward to seeing the site being developed further more, @britbox.  Looking forward to meeting new posters as well.  :yahoo:

Is it time to bite the bullet and split the Pro Tour into ATP and WTA boards?

Absolutely! - Although most of the members seem to be ATP supporters it makes sense to split up already

I agree with the ATP/WTA split.  So much easier to navigate conversations.  I was also wondering if we could have a "preview" feature for posts.  It's a good way to review and edit, especially with the more complicated ones, before publishing.  For now, it shows below how many times you edited, which is a little off-putting.

Hi Moxie,

Yes, previous is on the To Do List. It should be on the site during the week.

Cheers, BB

Live Chat is done.  It's at http://discuss.tennis/chat so ready for the big matches and all the posts can be imported into a thread.  It's basic but functional and no messing around with scrolling issues like the TF site.

Current Road Map:

November Week 1
  • Add Preview to Forum posting ( Request from @moxie and @mashafan )
  • Fix up Groups (add Full Editor and do some aesthetic changes as requested by @mashafan )
  • Create the "discuss.tennis prospectus" to send to recruitment targets
  • Create the weekly newsletter template and functionality.
November Weeks 2,3, and 4
  • All out poster recruitment.

@britbox any way we can thank a post without having to go to a different page? Most forums with likes, you can just click the like button as you're reading and continue to scroll down.

I'm about 2-3 weeks behind with these updates btw :) Crazy busy at work but they'll happen once I've cleared decks and then recruiting members will begin. Thanks for all your support guys!

Fine. I'll give you 2 weeks before you wake up with a severed horse head in your bed.

Hey BB, hope all is well. Just opening the discussion here on some poster requests for the site.

In general, I personally prefer a bit more overview when you view a thread or look at the overview of threads. Maybe the font size of the letters and the stuff around it is a bit too big to my taste.

Also when you login and out, it would be great if you can stay on the page you were. Now it brings you to the main page, which requires me to click back to where I was. Just my two cents.

Hey Denis,

Thanks for the feedback.  I'll be back in development mode in a couple of weeks.

Could you be a bit more specific on the the overview when viewing a thread as I'm not sure what you mean.

The other thing I was considering was just changing the home page into an activity stream that brings together latest posts in the forums, news, profile updates and communities... a bit like when you log into facebook and see a stream of the latest updates.  Going the direction of a social network.

Cheers, BB

We've now moved to a different system based on Xenforo, the world leader in bulletin boards.

One side effect is that all the passwords needed to be reset. If you haven't had an email with your new password then please reset your password from the login screen by clicking the "Forgot your password?" link.

If you have questions or have problems accessing the new system, email dtadmin@discuss.tennis

WHEN YOU HAVE LOGGED IN SUCCESSFULLY... Please set your timezone and preferred theme here:

http://discuss.tennis/index.php?account/preferences

There are currently three themes to choose from when browsing discuss.tennis content and we will be adding more.

We can also now add Likes, Polls etc...
