Serena gets easy draw. She should win easily against Genie and Simona. Ana might
score a win against Serena. This is very possible as Serena would be asked to
play Ana first (as Ana is the lowest seed in the group) and Serena is iffy at the moment.

IMO, Serena has 99% chance to make it to SF and 90% chance to win the Red group.

On the other hand, interestingly, each one of the other three girls (Caro, Petra and Aga)
are fully capable of beating Maria on a good day. It just depends on how many of
them have good days.

IMO, the Blue group is completely unpredictable and any two of them can come at the top.

Draw is done

As No.1 seed, Williams heads the Red Group, which also contains Simona Halep, Eugenie Bouchard and Ana Ivanovic.

Meanwhile in the White Group, No.2 seed Maria Sharapova is joined by Caroline Wozniacki, Agnieszka Radwanska and the in-form Petra Kvitova.

Hmmm! Genie giving Maria a little back action (second pic). I thought Genie would be saying to Maria: you know I am the new it girls, maybe at the closing ceremony you can remove the crown from your head and put it on mine. :lolz:

What kind of courts they have in S'pore.

Are they very fast, fast, medium fast?

How about the bounce, low or high?

Anyone knows about the court conditions?

This being indoor tournament (I assume it is), no need to worry about the elements.
Besides, in Singapore the weather is so predictable with the daytime high temp varying
about 3 or 4 degrees over the whole year.

I am thinking Ana will win over Serena in the opening match (and then much later in the
finals, Serena will win over Ana).

Picking Genie, Petra and Caro in other matches.

What happened to SiSi? It is long time since I read a rambling from him.

Now that Simona is back in action Si Si should be back too, I would expect.

Someone has made some funny captions to the picture I've brought earlier. Well pictures are pictures and it could've been a different one seconds after but here it is:

And then - don't put too much discussion into this - it's just for fun. But Genies caption is on the spot me thinks ;)

I have the winner of the "Rising Stars" and it's one of my favorites:

Monica Puig defeated Zheng Saisai 6-4 6-3

Now on to more serious stuff.

Doubles draw is here today, the field has been increased to 8 teams this year, up from 4 last year.

The Russians didn't make it, got upset. #4 seed is out.
#2 seed had no issues winning, the defending champions are into the semis.

Is the doubles not being played using RR format.

Are they doing it as just a regular, single elimination, 8 team draw?

Yes that's correct, it's a new format.
the teams were increased from 4 teams last year to 8 teams this year.
it's now elimination style, lose and your team is out.
