Two personalities that had no chance of succeeding. Connors arrogance and Maria's stubbornness on the court to even remotely listen to what a coach may be trying to convey. It is quite laughable.:laydownlaughing A fleeting moment in a rather bizarre week of tennis!

Maria's rep is fast becoming irreversible. She may find it hard to get a coach because they may not want to deal w/ her idiosyncrisies. Maybe she should go back to Daddy.

Also.......They may not want to deal with the task at hand.

No one has been able too for a lotta years.

My best guess is Connors handed out a few home truths Maria didn't want to hear.

I agree. Either that or he kept harking back to the old days, "I was a rogue, people loved me, there's no personalities in the game now, but me, see I used to grind, see? I'd get in their face and so what if it was stepping beyond the rules, people loved me and I can see why. Anyway Maria, I'm not here to discuss me. What do you think about me?"

Dumb move on her part. Maybe she's right and Connors isn't what she needed. I am not completely convinced that Maria isn't perfectly pleased with where she is at. I mean she could continue as she is and get lucky with early exits by Serena and Vika and feasibly win another slam or two. At this point to get past Serena or to move herself into a position to dominate she would need to make some major tweaks to give herself more weapons. The reality is she makes a boatload of money each year (the highest of any female athlete) and has a ton in the bank. I think she realized after her slow comeback from her shoulder injury that she needs to at least be hovering near the top to continue to make that much money. I don't see her going past 29 anyways.

I am late to the party! Was away on vacation and was not allowed to use phone, computer or any electronic device. I just found out this morning that Maria and Jimmy parted ways. Wow! While I did not expect this to be a long term relationship, I must admit that I was very surprised that they parted ways after only one match! There must have been problems in their relationship before this match. There are rumors of shoulder problems for Maria as well as daddy Yuri giving Jimmy the heave-oh.

I can't wait to see if more info comes out (especially given the BIG MOUTH of Mr. Connor). Gee I have missed you guys and the sometimes insightful, always entertaining postings.

So Masha lost her coach to Caro and is now parted with Jimbo?!

How is this going to work for her? I would have kept Jimbo at least until the end of the year, things must have really gone wrong if she decided not to.

This is bad news for Masha. This just about eliminates her chances at the big apple.

Is Maria's old coach Caro's new one? Has this been confirmed? (Sorry but I have been away and know nothing of what has been occurring in the last 7 days).

• Matt Cronin reports that Maria Sharapova’s father, Yuri, played a big role in the hiring and firing of Jimmy Connors. He’s the one that placed the phone call to let Connors know it was over.

• In other major coaching news, Sam Stosur has split with Dave Taylor. She’ll work with former player Alicia Molik in the interim.

French kinesiologist Jérôme Bianchi will work with Maria from Nov 15th. He used to work with Sveltana before. Hope he can help Maria's shoulder

I wonder if Maria would consider Paul Annacone as her new coach and would Paul want to tutor a WTA player?

He definitely does. Off topic. Did you hear what he said about Berdych when he was guest commentating on the TTC this week?

I LOVE listening to Annacone. He and Corina are my favorites by a huge margin. I hope he is given a permanent job commentating for the ATP. Is there a way for tennis fans to voice our opinions about this sort of stuff?

You can write the Tennis Channel, and tell them. It has nothing to do with the ATP or WTA.
