This is crazy. May be she should hire Tomic's Dad.
He will teach her discipline. ;)

Connors gave maria a whole bunch of reality, told it like it was,

sharapova said that's not what I want to hear, so she sacked him...duh.

So Masha lost her coach to Caro and is now parted with Jimbo?!

How is this going to work for her? I would have kept Jimbo at least until the end of the year, things must have really gone wrong if she decided not to.

This is bad news for Masha. This just about eliminates her chances at the big apple.

I think Maria's situation with Serena is affecting her more than

anyone thought. She seems to be getting desperate. There is

no quick fix. Connors nor anyone else has a magic wand. It's

a process.

Maria's rep is fast becoming irreversible. She may find it hard to get a coach because they may not want to deal w/ her idiosyncrisies. Maybe she should go back to Daddy.

maybe Connors told her off and her agent didnt like it...I think her off court commitments are getting in the way,the sourpova thing, her toy boy and her ego.
Serena seems good at retaining staff, her hitting partner has been there for years,Patrick seems to be enjoying the team , Esther and Val have been with Serena for years.Maria should take a page from Serena once again about hiring staff....

With the start of the U.S. Open less than two weeks away, Sharapova confirmed after the match that she would not take a wildcard into next week’s New Haven Open, and will instead return to Florida to train. That means the four-time Grand Slam champion will head to Flushing having played just one match on hard court since Wimbledon.

After Sharapova’s loss to Stephens, Connors appeared ready to shrug it off and get back to work to help Sharapova prepare for the U.S. Open:

Jimmy Connors ✔ @JimmyConnors

Every good round starts with a bogey-- Not the start we wanted, so back to work tomorrow.
10:54 PM - 13 Aug 2013

Then last night he sent a, in retrospect, amusing tweet revealing he was back home in California taking in a stiff drink. Note his Russian drink of choice:

Jimmy Connors ✔ @JimmyConnors

Back home in SB-- family, pups, and home cooking. Oh-- I forgot, and a vodka on the rocks.

Apparently TTC had similar information. When asked if Maria would take a WC into New Haven, she said no. She would train in FL for a few days and then she had some obligations w/ Sugapova and other endorsements next week that she had to fulfill.

I must say Sherona. I do like your enthusiasm for your player no matter how misguided it may be.

You see this is what happens when you get to greedy. Maria is all about the $. Like I said before in the Forbes magazine it stated that "Serena has cut back on her endorcements because she wants to focus more on her tennis." Maria is to damn greedy and with all those endorsements and having to please your sponors something bound to fall through the cracks.

If that were the case, then he never would have entered into any kind of relationship with her.

I suspect what some others have said: Maria is exceptionally stubborn, and doesn't listen to coaches anyway. I didn't see her match the other day, except for the last few games, but I doubt what she did had any relation to what Connors told her to do.

Jimbo looked angry during the match and probably had a few choice words with pova and her overbearing agent,I think pova should hire a coach who is low profile and will not steal the limelight from her.Jimbo is a strong personality and would have overshadowed pova at the Open....this is her agent decision because he wants his charge to be the star not the co-star of her entourage.

I really want to hear what Connors has to say. I never thought he was the kind of guy that wanted to do on court coaching and have everyone listening to him. I heard that there would be no on court coaching in their relationship and he probably made that rule. However, I think that is exactly what Maria is hooked on and believes she needs.

It was her first match back, so she was already rusty and didn't want to lose to Sloane (or anyone else for that matter). She probably feels that if he had come on court the result might have been different.
As a result, she feels he is not the coach for her.

Its not just the staff. Its what they have to work with

Of the 2, If you were a coach, which would you rather have

Knowing Maria's situation.
