In another blow to her famously fragile ego, the UN have sacked Maria as an ambassador. Just when she was being lined up to bring World Peace and an end of World Hunger (that would be Tuesday) and then she'd sweep the steps of a Calcutta monastery while wearing a sack of golden ashes on her head (Wednesday), then she'd pose fully clothed for Playboy on Thursday in aid of International Wimmins Day, Part Deux, then she'd wear eye make-up and a short mini-skirt to help build bigger LGBT-friendly hospitals in Syria on Friday - all this stuff that would benefit the whole wide world has been shattered by the mean and spiteful UN who never truly appreciate the wunnerful work done by celebrities around the world, all the photo ops and even more photo ops.

Damn you, the UN! Damn you to Hades! :devil

Stephen A said that if it was Serena who had failed a drug test it would have been Hell to pay. Skip said that Pova is such a lesser talent than Serena that it would have been the same backlash that Pova is receiving today. Stephen A reply is that Serena is held to such a high scurinty ( her body type, her press conferences, arguing on the court and etc) that it would be a such a higher bias.

I used to watch that show everyday going back to "Cold Pizza" days, but it's such an obnoxious program now, I can only take a few minutes of it at a time! Skip is a doddering old man who thinks he knows everything and Stephen A. always makes things about race! It very well may be the case in certain circumstances, but he's cried "wolf" entirely too many times that no one's listening in this household! :cover  :nono

well pova has a lot of mixed race apologists from James Blake,Madison Keys and Jamie Hampton...blinded by peroxide.I noticed a lot of the asian americans like Hampton and Crawford love love pova...just to imagine how Madison Keys hated on Venus when they played in Asia...now we know were her alligiance is..

Keys started playing because of Venus and Sloane started at 9yrs when Serena and Venus were at the top....their parents were inspired by the sisters financial success...even though they dont want to admit .

The world has gone a bit mad in my humble opinion. It gets to the point that you wonder if an individual who is seen murdering someone will be defended by those of their race religious, or political persuasion, to the exclusion of the criminal action. Come on people. She has admitted taking the drug. That is the fundamental point here. The rest is just excuses
You're exaggerating. I think everyone agrees she should be punished.

You are just not willing to take a nuanced view or take into account mitigating circumstances.

Not really. She has admitted cheating. She is not alone amongst athletes of Eastern European extraction. She claims this has been prescribed by her family doctor yet she has lived in Florida since way before she claims to have started taking the drug. If someone could supply mitigation that has nothing to do with fantasy then I'm sure I as well as others might be able to entertain it.

Is it possible to say someone is incapable of such and such based on what you observed 15 years ago? Pova's dad probably called up Lansthorp and asked if he would come to her defense.

From that link above. 'I never knew she had any problems. I never knew she had heart problems or a tendency for diabetes,' he said. 'But you know all that stuff will come out I think.'

^ Yeah, her team are busy forging the medical records as we speak. All these people on Sharapova's side saying she's done nothing wrong are idiots.

She is a first offender and can make a case for negligence.

No doubt Ben Johnson tried to make the same case. At the end of the day it all boils down to whether you want to believe the excuses or the facts

Lol, and you can prove as a matter of fact that she decided to take the drug fully knowing that it was banned, risking on of the biggest sports business imperiums out there, reputation and tennis career. For what? Melodium? A drug that hasn't even been proven to have PE effects on athletes? Get real.

I'm not a Sharapova fan at all. I in fact find her just as annoying as Nadal. But you just sound like Trump.

If you say so mate. The fact that over a hundred athletes have already been caught taking it tells the story to anyone who lives in the real world, but believe what you want to believe. I don't have to prove anything, rather the onus is on you her defender to convince the rest of us who doubt her, that her intentions were nobler than all those other athletes despite the fact that she has achieved vastly more wealth than probably all of them combined. As to the effectiveness of the drug, surely you can't be that naive? Where PED's are concerned, the most damning thing is not its effectiveness, it's the fact the guilty sought the edge in the first place

He isn't going to be neutral because like her or not Maria sold tickets and product. Anyone will be feeling that crunch when you lose a key figure in tennis. However, this shows the importance of pushing other players and developing them into marketable forces, so when something like this happens, you don't feel that hurt.

Just curious do you have proof of that and if so where's it? Or are you just repeating what what the commentators who kisses her ass are saying. You know they talking points that's handed to them. The same talking points that were given to the players about her doping and how to answer the questions...Just saying.
