Goodness me. I was so afraid of the court condition as Nole complained about it a lot and was clearly in his head for a lot of his matches in Rome, but I would have never guessed it that his biggest obstacle would be opening a bottle of champagne :nono
Great performance from Nole from start to finish. That is what I like to see, not some mental walkabouts during the match that cost him sets and give his opponents some false confidence that they can beat him. Maybe Rome will serve him well to try to stay as focused as possible throughout the whole match. Losing a set in Masters is not that big a deal in best of 3, but where there is a potential to play 5 sets in 1 match, those can come back to haunt the players. Players do a lot more running on clay than any other surface so conservation of energy is crucial.
Easier said than done
Nole's 12 consecutive Masters 1000 final wins. This is a record as well. Memo to rest: knock him out in earlier rds because if he gets to the final in one of these.....he is hard to beat. Bravo Nole :clap
