Lol! I was out for a kiddie dance recital. Came back and seen the score. I won't even bother watching the recording now!

You'll like the first set until 4-4. Watch Nole serve up to the break point for Fed and then turn it off. That's when Roger turned it off too. :nono

Maybe I'll do that then!

It was over after that; just a formality and you could see it in Roger's face! He had to win that first set when he actually had a chance and was playing well! :nono  :dodgy:

Djokovic better....throw everything he has into this French Open. He will not find a better opportunity to win it. You never know when the Rafa switch will hit.

Congratulations to the World No. 1! What an awesome year he is having! I'd like to see him go through Nadal (QF), Murray (SF) and finally Federer (F) and win his first French Open title!

And please don't open any more bubbly bottles! :snicker

I saw him shaking the bottle, then bring it in close to open it and "crossed myself" when the cork hit him in the face! :puzzled :nono :cover

Federer did well reaching the final...

think back around 2 years ago and catch yourself thinking "I'm really looking forward to Federer being two in the world rank charts and reaching masters finals when he is nearly 34".

..those thoughts were not happening..certainly not the rank no2 bit anyway.

Goodness me. I was so afraid of the court condition as Nole complained about it a lot and was clearly in his head for a lot of his matches in Rome, but I would have never guessed it that his biggest obstacle would be opening a bottle of champagne:nono

Great performance from Nole from start to finish. That is what I like to see, not some mental walkabouts during the match that cost him sets and give his opponents some false confidence that they can beat him. Maybe Rome will serve him well to try to stay as focussed as possible throughout the whole match. Losing a set in Masters is not that big a deal in best of 3, but where there is a potential to play 5 sets in 1 match, those can come back to haunt the players. Players do a lot more running on clay than any other surface so conservation of energy is crucial.

Easier said than done:D

Nole's 12 consecutive Masters 1000 final win. This is a record as well. Memo to rest: knock him out in earlier rounds because if he gets to the final in one of these.....he is hard to beat. Bravo Nole:clap

The decisive point in the match was for me Nole's winning CC FH return when Roger was serving at 4-5 30-30 all.
That was a blitzer reminiscent of Nole's famous return on MP down at the USO against Roger.
This point set up Nole's first BP-SP he converted.

I stare at the Masters record book all the time to see how much the Big 4 have dominated, but I hadn't noticed Nole's last runner-up appearance was almost 3 years ago in Cinn. against Roger! I had no idea! Bravo indeed! :clap  :eyepop :popcorn

Each player has disappointed the fans of the other; those MP's at cons. USO's has to wear on Roger after all these years! Roger has also been a thorn in Nole's side in Dubai on that fast court and his worst defeat coming in '11 FO semi when he was on a 41 undefeated match winning streak up to that point! :clap  :dodgy:

Yeah, but at the same time I think that is the beauty of the game. You really never know who is going to win until the last point is played and the ump says: game, set, match........I know Nole has had quite a few of those matches where he seemed on his way out, only to find some extra something to pull it out and win it at the end: the matches vs Federer at USO those 2 years, against Tsonga in Paris, against Murray in China, the most memorable to me. I am sure other players' fans have their own exciting examples.:D

Was that China or Shanghai where Nole saved a MP against Andy with a "tweener?" I need to pull that tape to see again! It was fantastic! :clap :eyepop :ras:

It's one or the other; Shanghai's a Masters and China a 500 event! I do remember it was multiple MP's saved, but I remember the "tweener" more than anything! Andy has to still be kicking himself! :cover :nono  :dodgy: - Update: Got it; Shanghai, China!
