Andy first reached the top 10 on April 16 of 2007, about a month before he turned 20. So there was a month. (He wasn't consistently in the top 10 until July of 2008). So May 14, 2007 would be the answer to your question, I think. Novak was #6, Murray #10.

Agassi and Chang were both in the top 10 as teenagers for at least part of 1989-90, before Agassi turned 20 in April of 1990. Sampras reached the top 10 in August of 1990 at 19, when Chang was still 18. Ivanisevic was also in the top 10 as a teenager for parts of 1990. So there was a cluster back in the 1989-90 range, of Agassi, Chang, Sampras, Ivanisevic. Not sure if anyone else.

I know Edberg and Becker were both in the top 10 in 1985 as teenagers.

Here's a weird one I find: for a brief time in 1984, Mats Wilander and Aaron Krickstein were both teenagers in the top 10. Wilander turned 20, but Krickstein first reached the top 10 right after turning 17 years old.
Good stats, IIRC wasn't Aaron K the youngest ATP top 10 ever in the Open era?

What’s ironic is he’s most remembered by some tennis fans as being one of the victims of one of the oldest Players ( Connors) reaching his USO SF circa 1991.

Not sure about that. I do know he's the youngest player to win a title in the Open Era - Tel Aviv in 1983 at age 16, 2 months, 8 days.

I vaguely remember @Fiero425 ranting about him being a disappointment. According to Wikipedia, he had injury problems, including stress fractures in his feet, a car accident, etc. Definitely a "career do-over" candidate.

My goodness the ‘80’s, “youngest” era for both the ATP and the WTA concurrently.

Like all the kiddies of that era, they broke down trying to play men and women with wooden sticks! Tracey Austin and Andrea Jaeger were the early victims of greedy, Fan-Ho parents pushing their kids to the brink of dispair! Then there was Jimmy Arias and Aaron Krickstein! AK's only disappointment was to himself not finishing off Connors in that USO match! Last I read about him, it has something to do with Marine Biology! The 2nd wave of girls were put under even more pressure as more money could be made in endorsements so "looks" were a premium with Carling Basset, Andrea Temesvari, Gabriela Sabatini, & of course Anna Kornikova much later! Andre Agassi admitted in his book how much he hated tennis and the people he had to deal w/ in those teen years! It seems Sabatini and Graf avoided a lot of injuries; so Amazonian IMO! (End Rant) :face-with-hand-over-mouth::face-with-tears-of-joy:

Novak on Holger:

Defending Paris champ Djokovic, who dropped a set to Rune in their US Open first-round meeting, has seen the Dane's rise first-hand.

"I know him quite well because we have trained on different surfaces," said the six-time Bercy titlist. "I really like him. Very nice guy, great family, great team of people around him. Fantastic work ethic that he has, and he deserves his success. I followed him the last three, four years, his uprising through the Challenger level and then getting now to Top 15 in the world.

"No doubt that he's the future of the sport, along with Alcaraz and some other guys. Hopefully I can [delay] his first title [at a] Masters 1000 event," Djokovic added with a smile.

He also said that Rune’s style of play reminds him of himself.

The picture of adorable: :D (no Fiero, I don't mean Novak)

How can the tennis frontier forum in tandem ( including unnamed haters like Kskate2, Moxie, Tented, etc) not cheer underdog Little Holger to his 5th top ten win in as many days???

The nerves can affect to Rune while the experience and incredible resistance can help to Novak so the third set can go 50% to both

It’ll be very unlikely that Rune wins this set, given the difference in quality and experience of the two players - but if he does win it, it’ll tell us a lot about him!

Rune gets it back on serve, and I think they said the trainer is coming out for the senior citizen.

Congrats to the newest kid in the top 10! It really is the end of an era. Two teens in the top 10 sandwiched between 2 old timers and a smattering of twenty somethings. Big props to Holger. Patrick gave him the game plan and he executed it and held his nerve when it mattered.:trophy:

Thinking more and more lately that Patrick Mouratoglou is a dirty coach. The way he suddenly distanced himself from Halep and now Rune's very sharp rise but he's the hardly the only one either.
