Rafa's bhand did not have the same intensity it did at RG,he really needs to find that again especially in London, also his return of serve.
I agree. I think he's adjusting well to indoors but he still has a bit to go. His main plan should be to use these matches as prep for Oz, a bit more difficult for him maybe than outdoor hards, but I hope that's his main goal, to keep his eye in for the slam. He'll have a good shot in London though, and it'll be interesting to see what group he's in.

By the way, I'm glad to see Medvedev show some form here. Young lads like him, basically losing almost a whole season of their career, after he did so well last year, I'm happy to see him play so great...

After his disappointing s/final at the USO (I picked him to win) Medvedev's game has gone AWOL,he cannot play on clay, though he has found some form here in Paris.

He was very disappointing in that match at the USO, I think somehow the occasion got to him, because he'd been untouchable until he faced Thiem. He got rattled and blew sets through a lack of composure, and maybe all the youngsters were eyeing the final with no Big 3 player to face, and at the prospect of this, he blinked, rapidly...

I do think Ferrer is good for him, for that reason. When he's finding his serve, he's tough, because he has lots of upside in his game behind it. As they say, you can't teach 6`6", but that's not all he's got.

That’s right, yeah, he’s got a fantastic game, and last summer he showed, he has a great temperament for big matches. Ferrer a great bloke to have in his corner...

I'm gonna be truthfully brutally honest, Zverev outplayed Rafa especially during the big points. Congrats to Sasha and his team..
What I'm disappointed in with Rafa style of play..He played the last 3 matches at RG like someone was trying to steal food off his table..This week, he played like he wanted to have a conversation at the dinner table with everyone. His confidence in his BH was not there and he had trouble establishing his DTL FH..If he doesn't tighten up those strokes, he will not be walking away with anymore championships titles this year.

Hard to believe Rafa's act at the end; getting all bent out of shape over a "time violation" warning! It needs to happen more often! :angry-face:

Rafa said " I need to find a better feeling with the b/hand on this surface.I need to adjust a couple of things, but I am doing well on all the important things no? so lets see.I have one week and a little bit more to keep working, and I hope to be ready for it."

Medvedev gets the early break in the 3rd set! When Medvedev is playing like this especially on a hardcourt, he is tough to beat.

Zverev's limitations will be his tendencies to be passive from the baseline and his forehand. Can Zverev overcome those limitations on big moments? Best out of 3 sets, he will be okay, but best out of 5 sets is a different story.

Finally! Daniil Medvedev won his 1st title of 2020 and his 3rd Masters 1000 title of his career! He went to beast mode from 3-4 in the 2nd set until the end of the match!

Now on to the ATP Tour Finals!

Sascha mentions being a father soon in his speech, so confirms that.

clearly Medvedev is more Talented than Zverev, and for 2nd masters final in a row beats him After last years Shanghai masters, Medvedev also has a classily good looking wife while Zverev having kids out of wedlock. :yesyes: :trophy::trophy::trophy:

I have no stake, but it works out better for Daniil to get the points needed to leapfrog Federer dropping him to 5th in the World! It just doesn't seem right for him to be hanging out of a hospital bed, but retaining some status of tennis superiority while doing absolutely nothing! I'll be so glad when this year is over and we can get back to some form of normalcy! It's gonna test our mettle no doubt about it, but we've survived worse; a Trump presidency for one!
