RE: Roland Garros Order Of Play - Day 7

Looking forward to Djokovic v Dimitrov and Haas v Isner. Watching Isner bores me to tears but it's Haas he's playing so I'll watch it. Isner's serve won't be as effective in the dull weather and he's coming off a long 5 setter so Tommy should hopefully take this easier than expected. Want to see him do well at the slams this year so hopefully he comes through without too much hassle with max 1 set dropped against Isner. Davydenko v Gasquet could be a nice one to watch too.

Can't see Nadal v Fognini being too interesting but I'll catch a glimpse of it in any case but Djokovic v Dimitrov is the more entertaining match by far on at that time.

^ Agree about Isner being so boring you ... askld n,msnd m,;fasdn lk;skdn ;dlkn

Sorry couldn't even finish that without my head hitting the keyboard as I fell asleep.

Davydenko/Gasquet could be fun. I like them both when they're playing well. I'm also curious about Paire/Nishikori, as well as Wawrinka/Lurch ... I mean Janowicz.

Lurch LOL. Class. "You rang". Great resemblance actually. I didn't even spot that match was on so cheers for making me look twice. I'll definitely watch that unless the missus throws a wobbly with me watching tennis all day/weekend!

Lurch?! C'mon, I think JJ's kinda handsome. :puzzled

To your earlier comment, and not to start a fight, but Rafa had a point about the scheduling. I know you think he's a complainer, and he was pretty crabby today, but the other day they postponed women's matches when the weather was dicey, and made sure the men got theirs in, which they didn't do yesterday, and that was the complaint. (And, of course, the reason that's fair is that women play best 2/3 all year with no rest day, whereas the men deserve to have a better shot at the day off.)

Well it sucks for them all, I mean Haas played today and is playing tomorrow too. Even worse for Isner who played a 5 setter and his recovery isn't exactly exemplary. The rain makes the scheduling hard on them all. But yeah of course it's bound to annoy you when you play 2 days in a row. Yeah Janowicz isn't bad looking at all, just the jaw line I guess makes the Lurch comment funny :D I play for Team A and not Team B but can say safely say Tommy Haas is a handsome git. Even my missus agrees :)

PS, Moxie, saw these earlier and found them funny

Seems the scheduled start times have changed quite a bit going by this link.

This is the only link I trust, since it's from RG itself:

It does suck for several people...Rafa just has the bully pulpit to complain. They should have pushed all of the men's matches first, and spread them out across courts, IMO.

The Lurch comment was funny, though I believe the Lurch of tennis is Dr. Evil. And I'm pretty sure that, no matter what team anyone plays for, there is 100% consensus on Tommy Haas as a "handsome git." :)

You're very nice to share those videos. He's not known for his sense of humor, but the "famous ass" comment is classic. The other one is just sweet. I know you're no fan of Nadal, but he can be very cute. Just ask the missus. ;)

I feel lazy and 10am our time, 11am Paris time for some of the early ones but after getting up at 5:30am all week I guess 10am is more than late enough and I'll have to get up then :)

Wow lots of interesting matches, feels like a slam season now. Djokovic-dimitrov, Nishikori-Paire, Wawrinka-JJ, Davydenko-Gasquet,,,,,all these should be fun to watch.

^ well, you could end up having to choose between Rafa v F3 or Gasquet v Kolya. but i agree, there's some wonderful stuff going on today. starting the day with Nishikori v Paire also could be quite fun. dunno yet what i'll get though (Eurosport... can't bring myself watching a crappy stream of the match i'd prefer if i get nice HD big screen tv of another one; i reckon they might start with Vika and Sharapova).

I would be interested to see how Grigor begins the match vs Djoker.. DJoker always comes out strong and knows Grigor isn't the most fittest player on the tour.

"Not Rafa Nadal ‏@PseudoRafa 31 May

For sure I think it's time the ATP takes a position on the issue of climate change."

This is from a Rafael Nadal parody account on twitter. I don't know why but I found it hilarious.

Nishikori wins against Paire (quite comfortably) and will get to play Rafa on Chartrier on Monday.

I assume.

:) i must say i found his scheduling rant a bit off. i really appreciate that he speaks his heart on these... on all issues lately, but i felt like he was a bit overly critical, given that he'd still have 24+ hours of rest after a four sets victory against an unseeded player in the second round; and it's not like only his match was affected, he wasn't scheduled last. most of the day was washed out, really. so that amount of criticism to me seemed like he's just generally not quite settled in at the tourney so far.

Seems livescorehunter is more accurate with the start times than the official Roland Garros website. Suits me anyway 'cos I got up quite late thanks to our cat lying on the half of the duvet on my side quite comfortably while I'm exposed to cold air and the other half of the duvet on my greedy bed cover hogging wife:D

The two matches to watch for me are Wawrinka vs. Janowicz, which could be a real blood-bath, and Dimitrov vs. Djokovic. There is some entertainment value to some of the others, but those are what especially perk my interest.

I don't expect Dimitrov to truly challenge Novak, but I predict he takes a set - either the first or second. But even if Grigor is playing at the top of his game, Novak will grind him down in 4 or 5 sets. I actually doubt it will go beyond 4 but you never know. In other words, what I think we'll see today is that Grigor has the talent to at least make things interesting, but not the stamina.

Dimitrov needs to put in more cardio in the gym 'cos his cardio with Sharapova isn't enough to win him big matches.
