As Iona reported already, Andy Murray is looking doubtful for Roland Garros.

Juan Martin Del Potro is also looking very doubtful to make the trip to Paris. He's currently recovering from a bronchial infection and is still in Argentina.

Any other injury reports in the run-up to the French Open, please feel free to share them here.

didn't know about DelPo. that's a real bummer, fingers crossed that he'll return in time.

if both men were to withdraw, that would, depending on Duesseldorf results, bump either Tanko Tipsarevic or Stan the Man Vavrinec.. i mean Wawrinka. of course, the latter would be much more intriguing - more volatile, a bigger risk that he won't even make the quarters, but so much more potential as well.

big If's, of course. i really do hope that the top 8 ranks will show up as expected.

I posted about Delpo in the Rome thread, as a reply to why he has played so badly, immediately he returned to Argentina to be treated.
The viral bronchitis prevented hin to play MC, Estoril and Madrid and he lost his opener in Rome.

here is a new article, he has basically no preparation and one match only on clay this season, highly doubtful, even if he recovers, that he will be competitive:

ugh. unfortunately, i don't think it makes a lot of sense for him to show up. if he's still in Argentinia, i can't imagine he'll come over and be ready to compete (jet lag alone is an issue with so little time left, let out alone recovering from an infection and trying to get prepared)...

it's always something with the guy, isn't it? it's like his body repells pro sports.

More's the pity. I've always had JMDP penned as a future winner at Roland Garros. I guess this year won't be the one!

That's a great pity about del Potro. That guy can't catch a break, can he? This is bad news. Time is moving on and I would have fancied his chances at a good run this year. Funny feeling this years FO will be a more open one...

So long as the Top 4, the other 124 do not really matter :(

That sucks, let's hope not as he's in fine form lately. Shame about Del Potro too. Any updates on Nalbandian's progress?

I found an article in the Argentinian press dated last week. He's been operated on for right shoulder and hip, and they're calling him doubtful for DC in September! They say he'll be recuperating for 3-4 months.

Cheers for the update, Moxie. I just hope it goes successfully and he can continue (or chooses to) for a bit longer. He has guys like Haas to look up to as prime examples of very successful surgery. Tommy has never looked better. Those are nasty parts of the body to get operated on at once. I'd say 3-4 months absolute minimum unfortunately. That'll be both hips operated on now. Hard on these players once their careers end to have had such a lot of surgery at this age. Doesn't bode too well for them in later life sadly. But then again, modern medicine/surgery is constantly improving so hopefully it'll all go great.

A report at Tennis.com says Stan might pull out as well. He will decide after the tests on Wednesday. It really sucks.. he really could have pulled an upset (based on his current form). Completely bummed about Delpo.. he has been out for so long

Yeah those 2 will be sadly missed by viewers but probably not so much by the players as it definitely makes things easier for them. Del Potro's form was poor anyway lately but Wawrinka on the other hand was in red hot form. He sadly overplayed and it cost him. But maybe not we'll see. There's time yet for him to recover.

Oh, dear. Sorry, Iona. Did they say what the result of the MRI was?

A shame, Iona but he'll be ready for Queens and Wimbledon and will be a major force there this year for sure.

Not sure Moxie. I'm on a train right now with a mobile and a low battery. Will check when I get home.

I'm sorry, Iona. It had to be a difficult decision, but try to think beyond it, and concentrate on Queen's Club and Wimbledon.

Please let us know if you learn anything else.

RE: Roland Garros Injury Reports: Murray Out, Del Potro Doubtful

Injury Update
News - Tuesday, May 21 2013
After consultation with his team and medical specialists, Andy has reluctantly withdrawn from the French Open and will instead focus on preparation for the grass court season.

Andy commented “It’s a really tough decision and I love playing in Paris, but after seeking medical advice, I am not fit to compete. Apologies to the organisers and thanks to everyone for the messages of support. Now my complete focus is on getting back on the court as soon as possible”

RE: Roland Garros Injury Reports: Murray Out, Del Potro Doubtful

I can't seem to find anything even in British press that says more than "back problem." I guess we just have to hope for a minor strain that requires rest.

I've looked in the Argentine press about DelPo. I have seen a headline that he's out, but it still seems TBD, though signs are not encouraging.
