Serena needs to work on her return of serve and gain some consistency on it. Near the end of the match, she was going for more than she needed to and she really needs to get more in play. Rybakina certainly held her own and made Serena pay through great play and careless choices on Serena’s part.

Well, hopefully Serena goes into Wimbledon with some good energy despite her loss here.

So Serena and Vika punked out :thumbs-down:. We will have all new SF's in the bottom half and someone will get to their maiden final. There are no slam winners left or anyone who's been to a slam SF yet. Believe Pavs may have the most experience reaching the QF's at Wimby before.

I would not write off Elena she is as cool as a cucumber,Pavs mental ability at times leaves a lot to be desired, even in her match against Vika, both Pavs and Elena are pure strikers of the ball.I liked what I saw today from Elena.

MM, don't misunderstand me. Not writing anyone off. The bottom half of the draw is a brand new tournament. Other than Pavs, no one has been to a QF before. Anything can happen by anyone of them. It really will come down to belief and execution for these 4 as no one really has any experience to draw from.

Interesting, Pavs and Elena are doubles partners and good friends
They will have to leave their friendship in the locker room when they play each other in their q/final

Well hopefully one of these slams goes Serena’s way, and she figures it all out. Here is hoping Wimbledon 2021 is good to her.

Did you figure out which one of them will be playing Serena or Vika in the SF? :lol6:
Womens depth in the WTA is too close to call these days.It is Serena's worse surface and Vika's too.I am not surprised by the results.I had picked Barty,to win, going on her good clay results before her injury.Look out for Paula Badosa who defeated Ash on clay earlier she is a dark horse, and can play long sets.

Serena really hasn’t made the adjustments that will help her to win a slam again. She is almost there.

She really near the end of last year and the start of this year got into the shape she needs to move better on court.

She hasn’t really made the adjustments on serve yet. She needs to really work on placement especially the second serve since she isn’t winning as many free points on serve.

Her return of serve is the most inconsistent. Instead of going for broke all the time and missing them half of the time, she should dial it back especially on key points to get more in play. If your serve isn’t what it once was, then you should at least give yourself a fighting chance by getting more returns in play to break back and not miss half of them by overcooking them.

She is also always going to struggle against players who are match tough and have had say 15 tournaments to fine tune their game to her 3 tournaments. I’m not suggesting a full schedule, but she has to play more to get these parts of her game that are letting her down ironed out.

Think Kostyuk can make this match competitive, maybe a 3 setter, possible upset?

This is their first meeting,Iga has been dishing out bagel's and breadstick's so far to her opponent's,I hope this match can be more competitive,I feel she needs this going into the buisness end of a tournament.

Good match so far, Kostyuk keeps pressing but unable to capitalize on a few opportunities.
