Same for both of course but I was just saying it obviously favours Tsitsipas more this way and nothing that can be done about it. Same with Nadal v Federer here in 2019. They're both great players in windy conditions but that day the wind was absolutely NUTS and the margin Nadal has on his shots with his spin make it much less of an ordeal to hit through the wind than Federer with his flatter shots, and same with serve. Medvedev hits pretty flat too most of the time and these slow conditions tonight killed him. It is what it is but it still sucks. I stand by saying the score would be reversed if this was a day match. Best case scenario 1 set to Tsitsipas in a day match here against Medvedev.

PS: Agree that the roof closure in Wimbledon 2018 SF definitely favoured Djokovic also.
It gets tedious to talk about conditions favoring one, when it's a straights sets' match. At least the Djokovic d. Nadal SF you're talking about from 2018 went 10-8 in the fifth. Then we can talk fine points. If it's done in straights, I don't think it was only conditions that won the day. That seems like excuse-making. At a certain point, a player has to work with they are given, and find a way. If they can't win a set, then I think they were not the better player on the day "but for conditions".

I am happy for either player. For Tsitsipas, I am glad he is able to beat Medvedev in a major and somewhat clear some mental obstacles against him. In addition, in paper and in Clay, he should able to beat 9 out of 10 times unless Medvedev clearly improves his Clay court game. In addition, he learned his lessons from the choke-job he did at the US Open against Coric. Ever since that match, he has now reached three straight SF appearances including forcing Djokovic into 5 sets, beating Nadal from two sets down and now beating Medvedev in a Slam. As long he keeps his head clear, he will soon win his 1st Slam.

As for Medvedev, I am happy that he is able to reach the QF stage of Roland Garros and showed that he can play on Clay and improve his Clay court game. It is just matter of willing to improve his footwork on Clay and willing to be aggressive throughout the match. I am curious to see on what his mindset going to be when Wimbledon comes around. The great thing he will be seeded #2 going into Wimbledon. The bad news is that he could potentially face Federer, Nadal AND Djokovic in succession lol :face-with-tears-of-joy:

After this QF match, I dunno, it made me hopefully confident for the mens game after the big 3 hang up their sneakers.

Forget the last service point:
Yes, I realize Medvedev didn't play his best, but overall I thought after the first set it was a high quality match with some jaw dropping winners and incredible gets and court coverage by both players. Medvedev's dropshots were sublime at times and the Tsitsipas FH and BH were just so solid.

Medvedev can take away that he showed in this tourney he can develop to be a genuine contender at the French, and Tsitsipas slayed a couple of demons including beating Medvedev on a big occasion. Add that tweener by Meds.

Plus one of the best things about tennis was here: contrasting styles, Tsitsipas free flowing game versus the freakishly "Boring" (per Stefano) ball machine of the Grumpy Russian, this could develop into a tantalizing rivalry (doesn't hurt there is no love lost between the guys)

Weirdly proud of both guys.

Medvedev has to learn how to slide and his footwork on clay before he can think about winning a RG title
He needs to address his return game on clay.,also be able to play on fast and slower conditions on clay.
For now his best surface still remains HC.
I will be interested to see how he performs on grass.

Edited that there for you ;) I still think Medvedev would have won in a day match.

Good news for Djokovic is Berretini's serve and powerful ground strokes will be completely nullified with his semi being a night match. Bad news for Berretini is now any chance he had is completely gone, same as yesterday's match with Medvedev v Tsitsipas. Load of crap the scheduling at this French Open.

Did you really expect something else???
Nah, but I just love watching Shortman fighting even though he knows he is going to lose. His fearless play is appreciated by the tennis fans across the world.

Granted I didn't watch any of set 1 where people commented both were playing very well but Schwartzman is making non stop errors here since I started watching.

That was a much better game by Schwartzman. Some great points by both there.
