Thiem is leading in the first, but far from dominating a weak opponent. 4:3 and serving, already played nearly 50 min
Damn it, what the fuck is wrong with him.
Phisically there, but mentally not. No wonder almost no one see him going far this RG.

Andujar with a double break in 4th. Hope he wins this match in 5. Thiem is playing awful, but credit to Pablo for hanging in there and taking the opportunities.

Unbelievable, he was 2 sets in front and collapsed. He is definitely no factor this year, even if winning this in 4 or 5 sets.

And Dominic really lost that 4 set, now in a decider. Almost 4 h played.
What a horrible start for him.

Andújar consolidates the break. My TV not showing that match, sadly, but I thought there was a remote chance for upset in this one, given the relative form of each. I guess we'll see how badly Thiem wants this and if he can overcome his current motivation issues.

Nope, Thiem still in a slump. Andujar comes back from two sets down, to eliminate the No. 4 seed. I’m stunned. I would have picked Thiem about third mostly likely to win, figuring he would get it together here.

Andujar be like if you can't beat them at their best, you can beat their shadows. Well played!

I’m impressed he served it out. I thought his nerves might catch up with him, and let Thiem back into the match. Kudos to Andujar for the win.
Me too, he played it cool after being 0:15 and that point at the net change the course of the game. I think Pablo raised his game towards the end of the match and showed some really good tennis. Did you notice that the guy cramped just as he won the last point?

Yeah, that net point gave Andujar the confidence to serve it out. I did notice it looked like he cramped, the way he grabbed his calf as he fell to the ground. At least he’ll have a day off to recuperate, because I’m betting he’ll need it.

Yes, but as I said to AP, people have been on one side of that fence, or the other. I had Thiem 4th or 5th and Tsitsipas way above him. Still, I didn't think he'd be gone first round.

As you mentioned, there was a slight chance of an upset here and though probably no one believed in it and would never bet on it, it actually happened. That's the beauty of the sports.

Disappointing and sad to see the Samurai fighting in a 5th set against a guy named Giannessi.

After past successes in Paris, making cons. Finals and defeating Djokovic a couple years ago, it was bound to happen! Winning a major (USO) can accomplish 2 things; give confidence or mentally weigh on a player! I'm just shocked that Fedalovic have been able to avoid it happening to them much after all these years of playing! It's still one of the banes of my existence in tennis to see the weak minds of today's players who really haven't challenged the elites even though they're supposed to be a part of it! Thiem, Zverev, Med, & the rest of those clowns in the "Lost Gen" should be embarrassed! I'll give Dom a pass since he was already showing doubt this season! End short rant!
