Not really surprised by that result.Ruud is heading straight to depression again if not already there.

Which is more surprising: that Ruud lost early or that Tsitsipas went out early. I'm going to vote Ruud, on current form. Not really surprised by that result.
Tough question. Ruud wasn't surprising considering his opponent, when he is really on, can trouble even the top players. (I did say that if someone were to make a Gaston Gaudio type run at the French Open, Nuno Borges is a prime candidate.) Tsitsipas wasn't surprising either because quite frankly, he's been regressing for years and has made earlier exits at the slams much more frequently.Which is more surprising: that Ruud lost early or that Tsitsipas went out early. No love for Alcaraz mate?Hopefully not. Anyone please but Alcaraz and Sinner.
You see a pattern based on one result?? That's a stretch, to me.If this was Gasquet's final match, this might be a good omen for Sinner:
2024 Olympics - Rafa loses final singles match to Novak Djokovic in Round 2. Djokovic's tournament result: Won Olympic Gold Medal
2025 French Open - Gasquet loses final singles match to Jannik Sinner in Round 2. Sinner's tournament result: ???
The desperation to elevate this guy knows no bounds! Congrats! Here's a fun fact: Every time Rafa played at Roland Garros (to completion), either he won the title or the player he lost to at least made the final.
2005-2008: Won title
2009: Lost to Soderling (made final)
2010-2014: Won title
2015: Lost to Djokovic (made final)
2017-2020: Won title
2021: Lost to Djokovic (won title)
2022: Won title
2024: Lost to Zverev (made final)
2024 Olympics: Lost to Djokovic (won gold medal)
Well, Hitler did a lot of damage in Paris back in the day.Concerning he who once resembled a mini Adolph Hitler, did anyone really expect De Minaur to do serious damage here?
So agree, while never the most effective ( think Wawrinka, Federer, Dimitrov etc ) it was to me the most aesthetically pleasing 1BH out there, a Renoir among the messy 2HB stomping so prevalent these daysAu Revoir Monsieur Gasquet. L 6-3 6-0 6-4 to Sinner.
Although never a huge fan of his, I did love the Gasquet backhand. A work of art and a quite unique pop.
