His fans in general, he is a protected species at TF, he does play the victim, when anyone points out his faults, they are always on the defensive, and make up BS, he does take MTO and to my way of thinking and other tennis journalist, it is Gamesmanship, you point this out you are a Hater or you make up BS? its kiddies stuff.
But you were replying to discussion where I was saying he’ll handle the French crowd, which by the way, is a crowd of a different order to the mob at MC or other venues where his opponent might have home advantage. And of course, being a slam magnifies things. But still, I think he’ll handle them baguette munching snobs.

I’m not a ‘fan’ of Holger, as such, but I like him. I like his attitude. But is he slam winning material? Time will tell. Maybe ‘not yet’ is the immediate answer…

Look I am the first person to say he is talented, there is no question about it, it is the way he goes about things, he will win against Monfils, though he like others have to learn how to play in the wind at RG, cant use that as an excuse, maybe they should watch Rafa and see how he handles the wind.Of course he is slam material, without a doubt
You like him fine, though when others point out things about him his fans target you, that is unfair and not objective, I dont colour and make excuses for my fav players, thats not how I go about things, I am fair.
When Meddy beat Rune in Rome was told by a fan at TF that I was making up BS about Rune, when he took at MTO for his shoulder which never get healed, or gamesmanship? others like me thought the same.

Generally I don’t like bad behaviour players. All the players I ever loved were gentlemen players, like Borg, Pete, Rafa. All 4 letter words you can proudly speak. I like Holger because I got sick decades ago of cheerful losers. The blokes who were grinning at the net waiting for their kiss on the cheek from Roger. I think the Big 3 basically hammered a bunch of well-fed losers. Sure, some struggled against this, but generally the field rolled over and let them have it. So this is why I like Holger. When he swiped the smudge in Madrid I was like, good lad, f**k em. If you have to push peoples buttons in unethical ways, do it. Get the W, and show them up. I’m tired of predictable defeats, obvious successes, compliant fields.

Hopefully we’re moving into a more competitive era now..

I have no problem with people liking different players at all, though what I dont like, is people not allowing to voice an opposite opinion of their fav player, to me that is not objective at all. If someone points out to me about a fav player of mine, for example Rafa, who has always taken too much time to serve and has always play close to the wind in that regard, I cannot make excuses for him.
Agree hopefully we are moving into a more competitive era, though I dont like to see Gamesmanship used in our game, Rune has a habit of taking MTO for his shoulder, then it magically disappears, his shoulder is fine, that is something I dont like, in any player

Well Gael did say he was prepared to suffer? havent we heard those words before? from a certain player we both love no?
Well there's nothing more frustrating when you know you have the talent to make the extremely extraordinary high level shots as Gael did so brilliantly yesterday but your body betrayal is so horrible the NEXT time on the court that you wished you had more time to recover aka Pete Sampras USO matches vs Safin and Hewitt in their first championship encounters.

I don't think he choked the match, Gael took him out to the deepest part of the sea and he couldn't swim back to shoreline.
Boy, don't let your adoration for all things Le Monf cloud your eyesight. Dude had a 4-0 lead and then served for the match at 5-4 against someone who was clearly cramping. Instead of putting the ball on the other side of the court or hit behind Gael, dude repeatedly hit right back to him. I rest my case.

He was until you posted this. Then proceeded to turn what should have been a 2 sets to love lead into a mental collapse and 1-1 sets instead
Now that's choking what Stan just did against Kyrgios s boyfriend K

There has to be a part of Gael that wishes he showed these warrior qualities when he was younger, instead of hiding behind exo shots and a big losers grin..

@kskate2 ISN'T THIS the battle of "who's holding Donna Now" ( not to be confused by the BRILLIANT vocals of El DeBarge song "I wonder who's holding Donna Now?" )
