We could take any of the Djokovic-Nadal-Alcaraz-Zverev from the top half of the draw and I bet every single one of them will say it's a tough path to the title.

I'd say Medvedev participation totally screwed up the draw. I don't remember when was a last time a 2nd seed in a slam was not expected to reach week two.
All I can think of is when Murray was seeded #2 at the USO in 2017, when no one thought he'd go deep, and his withdrawal unbalanced the draw, which pissed a lot of people off. That said, given the seedings, there is still no assurance that Nadal and Alcaraz wouldn't have been in the top half, so it's less consequential than the Murray withdrawal in 2017.
I think had Medvedev been allowed to play Wimbledon he would have skipped getting matches on clay and started prep back with grass and hard courts to try and defend his US Open. I think Rafa would have been seeded 4 and the draw balanced out a bit more.
Following onto the above, I agree with you that, if Medvedev were allowed to play Wimbledon and the English grass season, I don't think he'd have even entered Roland Garros. And if Rafa had been seeded #4, the draw might have been more balanced, but not much more, necessarily. I do not at all begrudge Medvedev playing at RG, given where he's going to be shut out. He's got to get in play, and garner points, where he can.

Domi is the only male slam champ and no surprise, they pushed him out to the 3rd show court. They put FAA and Carlito on PC

To date Dominic Theim hasn't won a match since Rome 2021,his comeback after sustaining a wrist injury in Mallorca 12 months ago, playing smaller clay tournaments and using his protected ranking at Masters Level has left him win less in 2022.Let's see if he can get past Dellien in RD 1.

Thiem really needs to play smaller tournaments and build back up. He should be playing doubles to help get him into matches too. His team is trash for not coming up with a better game plan. It seems like he is entering tournaments and hoping something clicks rather than looking at legitimately building his game back.

Thiem's comeback is a joke. He only won 1 set in how many matches since he started to play again, 6-7? All of his opponents were not even top players..something is terribly wrong with him, one has to wonder if he will ever recover.

I do not think his wrist is still 100% he does run around his bhand at times, when I have watched him in smaller tournaments. It will take time, he just has to keep plugging along.

Theim has said he will go back to 'challenger' tournaments for awhile, he maintains it is not a physical issue,
Going back to challenger tournaments I feel is a good way for building form, though some of the players in challengers are not walk overs.Theim will play 2 challengers in Italy, Perugia and Parma and then go to Wimbledon he said in his press conference

Didn't we talk about this a couple weeks ago? I think Thiem's done! This is what used to happen "in the day!" If a significant amount of time is lost being on tour thru injury or psychological reasons, it's almost useless trying to get back to where the player once was! Obviously the Big 3 have accomplished it, but as we well know, they're from another planet! :face-with-hand-over-mouth: :face-with-tears-of-joy::clap::partying-face:

Yes we did talk about this a few weeks ago, though in saying that 'it is up to a player to determine' if and when they want to retire.Dominic did say it will take some time, let us see how he goes in challenger tournaments, and if he can build some form

I’m surprised Thiem is claiming he is fully healthy. I think his wrist is not allowing him to hit freely, whether just mental or not.

Who said anything about retirement? I just said he prob. won't "get back" to his past hts. of success! It's not simple to come back from that injury!

I was wondering same. I actually thought I gave him too much credit in my draw, but didn't think he'd go out this early. He's not the comet that Alcaraz is, anyway. Didn't see any of his match, but the scoreline was imposing.
