apparently the kid was a child actor. Starred in some German horror flick.

good old weird Roger - gets broken when trying to serve out the set, but then produces a stellar game to break right back for the set.

but but surely he's not old enough to have appeared in the 1991 classic german film..

huh, how weird is that. looked it up, seems to be right. not a horror flick, though, some Kosovo War/crime/drama thing, and he actually had a major role - a sniper kid assassin type.

the match would have a slight exhibition vibe, some fun exchanges at the net. but fed seems a bit grumpy, not quite happy with his game, it seems.

now he did a little Ivanovic-style "shadow boxing" motion-rehearsing. weird.

can't agree..Federer often has a little frown going on. he more or less executed everything well.

yeah, it's true. there was just some weird stuff. he'd also give up points early... dunno. seems a little windy/chilly as well, that might be it. plus, easily putting away an inspired but outclassed youngster also kinda dims the mood, i guess.

dear lord, Simon matches can be dull.

I generally agree with you, but oddly enough, one of the best matches I ever saw live was Simon/Del Potro at the USO 3rd Round in 2008 - it was a 5 set beauty, and I think it was the contrast in styles that made it so fascinating.

I was hoping Steve Johnson would be more of a challenge to Stan, but since 4 all i nthe 1st set, Stan has just taken control of the match.

Wow, Stan is crushing Johnson. If he gets through the round of 16, he will be dangerous.
