Vesely - Mayer could be interesting. Also, Dolgopolov - Almagro is a pretty heavy match for a first round. Winner of that one gets to play Nadal.

I've heard the courts are really slow and heavy. Does that favour anyone in particular?

Yes, in Quentin Halys dreams. ;)

In all seriousness, there are very few players that are able to beat Nadal, especially here. Djokovic will already have a herculan task ahead of him in the quarters, if he makes it there. I can't see a rookie like Halys take out a 29 year old 9 time champion.

Edit: also Halys is ranked 296 and this is his second ATP level match. Lol, there is no way he is beating Nadal.

It would be the biggest upset in ATP history. Not happening.

I don't see Nieminen beating Novak, that would be an UPSET
Meanwhile Kyrgios says that he can do many good things healthy but I don't think he could beat Muzz, it would be another UPSET :nono
But I see Almagro beating Dolgopolov for sure ;)

Thanks to Quentin Halys being from France, Rafa gets to play his opening match in Philippe-Chartier Court.

p.s. I am not joking, see last year's RG schedule for example.

I'm guessing you're going to tell us that Rafa played his first round match on Suzanne Lenglen...is that right? And, surely, the only reason they're playing on Chartrier is for the French guy no one ever heard of. Your point? That Nadal has fallen so far down the list of interesting that he needs a no-name Frenchman to get him on the center court? Seriously...even you don't believe that. You need to get a grip, or you're going to have to put plastic protection on your sofa during this RG.

You are being overly sensitive. This has nothing to do with Rafa falling down in rankings.
Last year, he was playing American Wild Card in the opening match and they put him on Suzanne.
There was a controversy over that. Even we had a special thread at TF to discuss that, if I
recall correctly.

Here is a link for the controversy from SI. Many more links can be found if you google up on it.

It might have been useful if you'd have just told us that in the first place. Why be coy, or expect us to remember as well as you do? It still reads as a dig, since you didn't state it straightforwardly, as everyone knows your position.

If you hadn't appended your above with "I'm not joking," I'd have let it go. It read as provocative. In any case, do you really think, then, that they've got Rafa on Chartrier only because he's playing a Frenchman? And if not, what was the reason to point it out?

Rafa's opponent is someone who is ranked so low that I do not think that they would have scheduled Rafa's opening match on Philippe-Chartrier.

Also, your logic is completely convoluted. Because I had appended "I'm not joking", you
should have let it go and not the other way around.

Therefore, the only logical conclusion is that they are playing on Chartrier because of Nadal. Simple, n'est pas?

No, that is not the logical conclusion.

Although you have hard time getting it, I am sure everybody else get it. So, I am not going to labor the obvious any further.

You look at the premier matches on Chartrier for tomorrow, and tell me that the marquee players are not on there. And Halys is not a marquee player. And you haven't actually "labored" a point you've never made. I asked you what it was, but you've never said.

Nadal is the defending champion(D.C.). Of course he will open on the center court here. They do the same at other venues, honoring the D.C.

Joao SouSa is schooling Popsicle out there with some excellent shot making. Meanwhile, the Canadian is having trouble finding the clay inside the lines. One set down and serving at 1-4.
