Serena really stepped up today after being pressed by Ash Barty. This is the closest she's looked to being 'back.'

Keys is blasting Osaka off the court at the moment. Quite disappointing. I saw Osaka play against Diyas and she looked strong, although clearly she needs some help to adjust to the clay game. Didn't play a single dropshot....

Ever since Naomi won IW and beat Serena in Miami she's been lackluster and unfocused. I guess what they really is true. You can have all the physical talent in the world, but it takes a rare and special breed to be able to put it all together mentally, week after week, year after year on tour and stay in the top the game.

Svito gone in straights. Really a disappointing effort from her. Looked like she was about to cry walking off.

Well these days you have to take what you can get, and it has been a rare opportunity for many with Serena out of commission to take advantage at slams. Svitolina had a prime opportunity to be one of the few to cash in on said moment at the French. I don’t expect Serena to go on a Slam tear at this point in her career. I do expect with more match play to see her contend at Wimbledon and the US Open this year with an outside shot here with some help. However, going through Serena to get a Slam is never an easy task period, and many were quite aware of that opportunity, and a few players may have squandered their chance now that Serena is back.

Well done Serena. Now beat Sharapova like a drum again. Don't know why but I'm actually nervous about it

No, I am not worried about it now. Serena has already won three singles and two doubles matches at RG. She may not win the title here, but there is no way that she will now lose to Meldopova now. If they have met much earlier, there is a chance.
