ESPN made a great decision of not covering RG. From a pure business point of view, they hit a jackpot here. No Federer, No Rafa, No Maria, No Monfils, No Tsonga. I am sure whatever crap they are showing on ESPN would get them higher rating than RG.

p.s. Actually ESPN made the decision long ago and therefore just got lucky.

How lucky will they feel if Nole completes his CGS and takes his 1st FO! :cover :puzzled :nono  :dodgy: :eyepop

is there any particular reason why this major has no floodlights ?.

I believe they want tennis to be played in "natural" conditions. Glad you did not ask whether there is any good reason why the courts are not lighted at RG.

Here are the winners of the 16 clay court tourneys of this year.

Rafa Nadal --- 2 (MC 1000 and Barcelona 500)
Pablo Cuevas --- 2 (Rio 500 and Sao Paulo)
Dominic Thiem --- 2 ( Argentina and Nice)
Andy Murray --- Rome 1000
Novak Djokovic --- Madrid 1000
Victor Burgos --- Ecuador
Juan Monaco --- Houston
Delbonis --- Morocco
Verdasco --- Bucharest
Almagro --- Estoril
Kohlschrbrier --- Munich
Schwartzaman --- Istanbul
Wawrinka --- Geneva

Only 4 clay title winners are still left alive in the draw. There is a possibility that these four might end up being the semifinalists after two more rounds of play.

Shocking to have Nole with just one clay Masters! Been a while since that's happened going into Paris! :cover :nono

Four days of RG are over. The no. of posts in daily threads are abysmal.

Is this RG the most boring one ever or Is it because many posters have moved on to greener pastures or is it because ESPN dumped it? :puzzled

I can speak for myself, Damn ESPN! Also, sometimes tennis has to take second to work. Occasionally, I even put my girlfriend ahead of tennis ;)

Funny, I think Nole was going to skip Madrid before Ion Tiriac invited him special to be there! Then he wins the whole thing being only a finalist in Rome! I love that Italian cup; so cute, petite, and "history!" A player like Murray looks ridiculous with that on his mantle! :clap

If Novak had won or even gone deep at MC, I think he would have skipped Madrid. After bowing out in the first round of MC, Novak just had no option than to play in Madrid.

Finally, we got caught up. Semifinals of both Men's and Women's will be on Friday and most probably both the finals will be on sunday (but sunday and Monday it is expected to rain, but not big time).

Did they hint at skipping sat. ladies final timetable? Why wouldn't they make them get their "cans" out there and play on schedule? The USO for years had them playing consecutives days going way back! :puzzled :nono  :dodgy: :cover

No, they did not hint. You are right. Most probably they will keep the women's final on schedule for Saturday.

Since both semifinals are at the same time, hope TTC shows and NBCSN shows other on old fashioned TV in real time. Does anyone know whether this will indeed happen?

An update on the junior (boys) event outcome, which had Canadian implications.
The winner is a surprising unseeded French player Geoffrey Blancaneaux who managed to defeat on his way to the title all 3 Canadian boys:

QF: Benjamin Sigouin
SF: Denis Shapovalov
F: Felix Auger-Alliasime

I hear that Andy's 2-8 result in GS finals is a record. Is that actually true? Does he have the worst winning percentage in GS finals among all men who have won at least GS? Just curious.

It has to be a record! Most people never play that many finals; to lose 8 of 10 is still an accomplishment of sorts! He proves he has some ability; just can't finish like most of this generation! Stan's the opposite of that rule; if he gets there, he's very dangerous and truly performs! We can't say that about Muddrick who wastes too much energy ranting at himself and the player's box! :cover :nono

Yes five losses to Novak and three to federer. Worst stat is 0-5 in Australian Open finals.

I know that 2-8 is a fact. My question was is this is the worst winning percentage ever.
