Yes I had her as the favourite going into the tiebreak.

I guess it takes time. She was doing so well before the illness and she isn't all the way back yet, but I think she'll get there. She seems like such a nice, sweet person. And that walk, Lucie sure knows how to strut around a court.

Terrible news for the Fed Fans and tennis in general. The knee must be bad, or he must have tweaked it again. Maybe the time off will help him get back to form. It's always bad when one of the Big Four is missing, now we have two gone at the same time.

Yes, hopefully for 2017 she'll be back on track and up the rankings again.

More casualties...

Garbine drops out...

:-( That will leave my tennis bracket in a bad way....

Oh wow. I hadn't heard that. This tournament is getting stranger by the day. That's three retirements and a couple of injuries and this is only the second round.

Stosur never has gotten back on track. She's pretty inconsistent.
Good win for Venus, although she looked to be suffering out there.
Haven't seen Kucova, but Suarez-Navarro is a good win.
Oh Giorgi, up one minute and down the next.
Glad Aggie won. She's been under the radar lately.
Pavlyuchenkova went away for awhile, but she seems to be coming back.
Aw, I like Errani, hope she recovers quickly.

Bouchard has got Cibulkova on her heels. I like both, but I do want to see Genie get back on track, and being at home might help.

I haven't even started watching. I'd better get on that. I'm rooting for the pocket rocket. I love the way she competes.

Genie won it. I'm with you on Cibi, but Bouchard was excellent today.

Yeah, she was. I just can't get behind Genie. Something about her rubs me the wrong way, so I was disappointed.

Mixed feelings on that one. Cibu is my favourite player on the WTA tour but I like Genie... I want to see her back in the mix... although not really at Dominika's expense :)

Dominika is an amazing woman. It blows me away how this tiny woman can walk amongst giants and have that kind of belief in herself and her abilities. Even walking around the grounds with those tall women would be intimidating to most, but Dominika takes them all on, one match at a time. Totally admirable.
