After the opening match, Rafa has a tough draw with Simon, Nishi, Murray and Novak waiting for him.

Girgor who is already in doldrums can barely win a couple of matches before running into Novak.

Murray may play Robredo in the very first match. These two played several interesting matches in the last fall all with Murray winning.

Rafa must play very well if he wants to go deep

Yep, Rafa given tough route to final. But the quarter-final could be tough for everyone, it will be:
Novak vs Berdych
Wawrinka vs Raonic
Nishi vs Nadal
Muzz vs Cilic

Well duh! :p I would think so! :puzzled :nono :dodgy: :cover

Maybe a poll should be started to see who believes one of the top players goes out early! Murray was the last to lose his first match; last week in DC! :popcorn :eyepop - ANYONE? :puzzled  :dodgy:

It's kinda sad that someone with a #3 seeding in a masters tournament can literally go out at any point. I feel that this tourney will be a blowout by a certain someone.

And Kirijax, what kind of tennis channels do you have in Japan when Raonic is the defending champ? :laydownlaughing

If you're referencing Stan having a tough quarter, you ain't kidding! Like Murray, he could go out in his first match if Kygrios is on his game! Pospisil and Isner could be other opponents with Raonic looming down the line if not IVO! Wawrinka can't be happy with Nole getting it easy with his usual pigeon in line like Berdych! Don't get me wrong, there are quality players in his quarter, but if on his game, Nole should be able to outlast and overcome the likes of Bellucci, Sock, Dmitrov, or Anderson! Maybe Djokovic "gifts" match to Anderson since he allowed him to escape a bad loss at Wimbledon a few weeks ago! He was all but gone, but rallied in 5 IIRC! :dodgy: :p

Only paid channels. On the national networks, Wimbledon coverage ended after Round 2 this year. :cover :snicker

A Canadian WC Brayden Schnur, 20y of age ranked 563 scores a very good win in the R1 of the qualifications against Bemelmans (ranked 98):
6-4, 6-3.

Another upset, Kokkinakis is eliminated by Herbert (France) in 3 sets.
Americans Young, Kudla, Ram all advanced, Kudla eliminating again compatriot Harrison.
Other winners today: Mahut, Gulbis, Youzhny, Lu, Chung, Duckworth, Falla. Dolgopolov.

OMG, have we given too much credit to the Aussie boys? If you can't make it through the quali's, what good are you then? I feel terrible that expectations have blown up on them; culminating in being yanked mid-DC! I can't remember seeing that; very embarrassing! :cover :puzzled :nono

Whatever happened to Penny's husband. I have not seen his name in this summer hard court season, neither in the main draw, nor in the quals. Has he become a full time husband?

Ya, I saw that. But, I don't see Rafa making it to SF. Simon or Nishi will finish him as neither is known to make 60 unforced errors over two sets.

Maybe if he also wouldn't make so many unforced errors like he has made this year then he would have some chances to finish both of them as he should :nono

Don't dine out too often off those 60 errors. Rafa would have won anyway, and now he has "the calm" back, he'll continue to improve... :popcorn

He would have won anyway? Fognini served for a set and Nadal cramped at the trophy presentation. Had it been 1 set a piece that cramping would have happened in the 3rd set and not at the presentation. Don't be too sure he would have won without Fog's 60 unforced errors.
