^ Moonballs are supposed to be the highest shots a tennis player can hit (hence the mention of the "moon"), so its funny how some people think Nadal hits moonballs.

I think you have taken wrong my comment. I don't think Nadal hits moonballs like some people say but today he hit some easy balls out of the court and also to the net which is very unusual on him :eyepop

Too many Pablos. Rafa had a hard time against one in last year's Rio tourney (Andujar).
He just played one (PCB) and next he faces another (Cuevas).

Hopefully, the third Pablo will do it. :devil

Carreno had very good practices with Rafa in Manacor when this last one started to practice after the appendix surgery, he couldn't have had better teacher ;)
Meanwhile P. Cuevas says that he has never faced Nadal but he is optimistic to be able to make a good match

Rio is my favorite tournament in the world, I hope Nadal has many, many, many more Rio titles still to come and I hope its given Grand Slam status too, because there is still no slam event in South America quite amazingly.

They should use next year's Olympics stadium as the premise for a Grand Slam event in coming years.

They should just change the U.S. Open to The Open and let it move around every year between Rio, Tokyo, Johannesburg, and New York. The present Open doesn't really care about tradition, the stadium, good scheduling or a quality stadium anyway. Shouldn't bother anyone too much.

Quite the pile-on for the Rafa upset. Seems that folks are otherwise afraid. ;)

Welcome back Moxie! It adds extra suspense given that the new Pablo has never been on a
bull hunt before. Do you know any active player who caught the bull on their first try?

What are the chances that you don't know the answer to that question?
If you're asking on clay, Horacio Zeballos.

Vilas was a hunk? really? I see...maybe because his hair.....he was ugly and now uglier than ever:snicker

Reading some posts I can see that expecting some upset and eating :popcorn someones got some indigestion :devil

I said "he was".... when he was young...now he's older he looks bad, agree with that but back in 80's a lot of women loved Guillermo, he had a "groupies" following like a rock star, believe or not

Carol35 might be too young to know that, but I can confirm isabelle is right.

Yep, Zeballos will remember that match during his whole life and in the future his grandkids also will hear a lot about it :snicker

Indeed he did...alas age has caught up with him in a bad way, whenever I have attended the clay tournaments in Europe and Vilas has been there,he is always dressed in black, wears a black hat, reminds me of someone in the Mafia....;) though once he did bring a Pink sweater to Monte Carlo tournament...though he never wore it and left it on the seat.

Ferrer takes the first set against Monaco with 6-3.
Interestingly, Juan leads the H2H against David.

Whew. For a while there I thought Ferrer was going to follow the other top seeds out today. good to see it he made it through. Really hoping for a Ferrer vs. lower-ranked final and a 23rd title for Ferrer.
