Not sure Del Potro will hold now. In fact I'd back him to lose it here given he failed to break with 0-40 there.

Does Delpo have the best forehand on tour?

I'm so happy for DelPo he will at least get silver! I would love it if he could take this from Murray and get Gold.

Very impressed with Del Potro. Did not expect him to win. Definitely good to see him back in the mix and with only one hand too.

What a bad fault by Rafa but he had done a great tournament , incredible that he was still alive and given so much work to Delpo who seemed to be more fresh but close to lose
Great and bravo Nadal!!!!!! if he wrist is ok I can see that he will do well in the USO.
Tomorrow Muzz will get his second GM, yes!

Pretty sure the South American crowd will fall behind DelPo. Hope Teefers gets shocked with a silver.

Not the Brazilians

So do Kei and Rafa play for bronze today? They just showed up on live scores for today and not tomorrow. That would suck for Rafa if he has to play for it today.

Del Potro's ballbashing just can't be handled here. It just depends whether the five set format can rattle him or not, he played even better than he did against Novak in R1. He lost a set because Nadal played fantastic at times, but just had no answer to thise missiles. This match shows how great of a player Juan is, and how unfortunate he is with his glass wrists. I hope he can storm the tour and win a big title with his newly found confidence.

It's like he's saying f**k these stupid slow courts, I'll show them the way he's belting the balls. He'll be very tricky on the faster surfaces if he keeps this form and improves his DTL forehand.

I don't think at the present he cares too much about it. He got the GM in doubles, in spite of all he has had to go through he almost has reached the finals. Now he needs to rest and then to have better preparation for the USO than he had before the Olympics.
For the first time for almost two years I've seen the Nadal that I remember, I'm really feeling very proud of him, amazing what he has done

Improve the DTL forehand? Front, are we watching the same player? The dude kills it. He hit a big one on set point against Novak, off the top of my head :laydownlaughing And I love how tactically adept Del Potro is, he only hit a handful of slices against Rafa, because he runs around and just slaughters those. If both of these guys keep this form, you would have to be a complete idiot to write them off for the US Open title. Insane stuff.

I think amazing is more how I'd describe Del Potro's run here given his wrist surgeries and absence on tour but good on Nadal all the same. Not sure how Del Potro will handle best of 5 format though. Sure he beat Stan at Wimbledon, but it was Stank who showed up and not Stan. Murray will exploit his movement and run him ragged and he'll get tired and misfire. I'm guessing Del Potro may not win a set but hope I'm completely wrong.

I guess I'm being a bit hard on him as there were quite a few that didn't miss by that much but get them in court and the point is over. A little bit more fine tuning and he'll be deadly even with no backhand.
