I have disdain for most American players going back to Evert, Jaeger, Austin, Connors, McEnroe, & Agassi! There's this sense of entitlement, "playing the victim" when famous and rich, and media coverage usually going overboard! As much as the Williams' are lauded, I think they woefully underachieved; outside interests, their own apathy, and injury due to inconsistent training up until now! It used to be the topic of conversation how Serena would play herself into shape at the Aussie Open every year coming in there overweight and not sharp! I've just never seen a #1 player with the up and downs of a so called "GOAT!" I could write a book over reasons I wish they'd all go away! :nono :cover

this explains everything....during her match against Flipkens she looked like she was struggling with something..apparently she has influenza and had to visit hospital before playing her 1st rd match...they saying its Jack Sock who had the flu...guess passed it on..

You won't see these numbers from Petra in this tournament me thinks or as one writes "rest of the year" she was good and Caroline is not quite there yet still too unprecise on the sidelines but it'll be there. Well that's the Olympics but no points lost or gained as there are no points at the Olympics this time - only the nonour.

Serena was up by double break with a score of 3-0 and then got broken. Alice is now bringing the heat.
Will be an interesting match if she could keep the heat on.

A very long game ends in a hold for Alice. It is 3-2 now. Serena's shots are going out by small margins (and she wasted two challenges on this game alone).

Serena gets irritated despite playing good. ALice has composure.

ALice holds to 5-4. Moreover, she had two winners in that game off short returns from Serena.
Overall, Alice was having only 3 winners and Serena 12 about 10 minutes ago and so this is good sign for ALice.
