Incredible is all you can see. He has now surpassed Federer not only in weeks number one but with the double career slam and the same for Nadal—who still needs another Australian. Just unreal the fight in this guy on so many occasions. Bravo Novak

OTTH I'd say Courier! :anxious-face-with-sweat:

You got that right Fiero.

People talk about how difficult channel slam is to achieve. That is really not supported by statistics.

In the open era, AO-RG double has been achieved only 4 times.

1. Laver 1969
2. Courier 1992
3. Novak 2016
4. Novak 2021

In contrast, Channel Slam has been achieved six times; once by laver, three times by Borg and one each by Fedal.

Before this, twice have players beaten Nadal, lost in finals. 09 - Soderling, 15- Djoker. To beat Nadal, it requires supreme concentration and physicality. Probably the toughest thing is that after you beat him, you must feel like you won already or entitled to the trophy... but then there are others yet to beat. Then the pressure kicks in..

To beat Rafa, be two sets down against Tsitsipas (a hungry young lion), under tremendous pressure being favorite, having beaten Rafa.... Novak could've easily withered away... It's incredibly impressive that he was able to win..... unhuman effort...

Novak Djokovic has now won a major final from

1) 1 set up
2) 2 sets up
3) 2 sets to 1 up
4) 1 set down
5) 2 sets to 1 down
6) 2 sets down
7) MP down

So mentally strong
Today it was also about physical resilience. When Djokovic took the third set, I had a good feeling about him being able to grind it out.

Also think about it

A double career grand slam
A double career golden masters
Most weeks at no 1

Only male player to win every elite title twice
Now that I didn’t know. Stupendous, is all I can say. Not my favorite player but one has to admire him for all he accomplished in the shadow of all that was Fedal for so long.

Now Ralph has been beaten in 4th round, in QF and in SF @RG.

Will we see him lose in the finals ever?
He will likely play a few more finals here so maybe, but if he reaches the final its way more likely he will win.

Nadal would beat Tsitsipas today like 3:0, it would be an embarrassement for the greek. He should be happy that he played Novak. He stood a chance and he fought well.

Tsitsipas has an interesting game.... he has a somewhat of an all court game, defense, offense, uses slice.... good serve. Yet he seems to be better on clay... I would've thought grass, or fast courts but clay? Maybe he hits with more topspin than it seems... and not a great counterpuncher but more of a player who likes to generate pace. Counterpunchers are good on fast courts, like Hewitt, Medvedev... they use opponents speed... Tsitsi seems to like to generate his speed more that the counterpunchers

Tsitsipas made a big mistake for not pushing in the 4th set.
I guess he was already gassing out, but the fight he did in the 5th felt like a bit too late.
